Looks like the iPhone no longer has a notch. And this big notch on ARM Mac’s wasn’t even necessary as it doesn’t have Face ID which made the notch so big on the iPhone.

So buy an ARM Mac without a notch. There are several to choose from.
OP may have a really good point. I have a feeling that if Apple ever succeeded in getting all of their products’ design language and colors to match in the same calendar year we could see an upgrade cycle of tsunami-like proportions, never witnessed before.

Notch on macs is basically meaningless. You get the same or more screen real estate as previous computers outside of the notch area and if you use dark background you never see it. I do wonder why the notch is so large though on the Mac. Is the camera that big??? Is the notch on the air M2 same size as the 16 M1?
The notch is a compromise to have both high-res camera and a large screen area. It’s only meaningless if you care about neither.

I worded my post poorly. I should have written irrelevant to everyday use. The notch does not get in the way of using the computer for almost all users and if you use a dark background you don’t even know it is there. I don’t notice the notch on my 16” M1 at all. In fact forgot it had one. Phone is a different story. I notice that all the time.
Been using this since the first month. I have never noticed the notch. The mini LED black level is so good that the notch is literally invisible to me.
The extra screen space that is enabled by the notch is really nice, however.
