@arn, I looked it up and you were required to take the Hippocratic Oath, most likely this modern version when you were at VCU:
Emphasis mine. If you did take this oath, please explain why discussion on climate change is limited to political threads? Climate science is not politics. 97% of published climate scientists agree that humans are causing global warming and climate change. This is well established science which has been proven through observation. MacRumors taking the position that this is a political issue will not age well. By instructing your moderators to remove these comments, you are actively participating in a cover-up, and are actively causing harm.
There are many of us who would like an answer as to why you are allowing moderators to play god in this situation. This actually is a matter of life or death. People are dying from climate change all around the world. You owe us an explanation for why these posts belong in a political section and are removed anywhere else, even if it's on-topic. If anything, MacRumors has a duty to remove false information and promote science and truth. If you don't want discussion on it, each story regarding climate, weather, and related disasters should have a note at the bottom that explains that MacRumors affirms the truth of climate science and there will be no further discussion on the matter. There, problem solved. If not, you are in violation of this oath, and that oath was very specific in that you will be remembered for the actions you take.
We are literally destroying our children's future. And I will not mince my words here: My seven year old daughter and my five year old son's future is being further destroyed each second that goes by that people like you set policies that we're not allowed to talk about this and speak the truth of climate change to educate the masses. This is deeply personal to me. This is one of the few situations where it actually is a black and white issue and the stakes could not be any higher. We need more websites to take a lead on this. Don't stand by.
Thank you for your time. I trust that you will do the right thing as a man of science who is bound to an oath.
I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:
I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.
I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.
I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.
I will not be ashamed to say "I know not", nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.
I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.
I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.
I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.
I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.
If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.
