Something that's driven me mad for so long is the 'Arrange by' 'Date modified', or 'Date created', but they're not strictly true are they?

WHY can't it arrange by the last one that was added to the folder. If I put 2 files in for instance, it doesn't put them in order of when I added them which is what I want. Neither of those options do. Is it possible for it to do that?

Neither "Date modified" nor "Date created" has anything to do with when a file is added to a folder. I agree it would be nice to have that option, but it doesn't exist.

Thanks for clearing it up, I thought I was just being clueless all this time!!

There are two 'Created Date' date's that are attributed to a file. There is the date the file was added to your computer and the actual file creation date (which i think is held in Meta data). Since files are passed over the internet and from device to device, Its a good idea that the original created date is preserved. If you Google 'Apple script meta data' you'll find tons of scripts that can manipulate the dates but altering meta data is a lot more difficult.
