Arrange by vs Clean up by vs Sort by

Whats the difference between Clean up by and Sort by in Lion? It seems to do the exact same thing (sort files n folders according to Criteria).

Wasn't Clean up by slightly different in SL?

Rather than start a dozen threads in a row, you can ask all your questions in one thread. Better yet, try searching the forums, as most questions have been asked and answered dozens, if not hundreds or thousands of times.

For example: Finder: Arrange by, Sort by, Clean up by, what do they mean?

I broke them into separate posts because they're totally unrelated
I searched not only the forums, but also Google. I wouldn't waste people's time with something straight forward

The Clean up by Part wasn't really resolved there. Only Arrange and Sort were. In fact the final link in that thread to "resolve it" is actually wrong.

As opposed to what the article indicates, Clean up by IS infact permanent for me. I still am not sure of the difference as a result.
