Towel trick is not a fix, more likely to do more harm than good, seeing as you are only trying to "warp" the PCBs to get them to reconnect properly with components.
The clamp kit may draw some heat away, but it has only had a partial success rate, which is pretty much good enough to say that it's only coincidental that it has 'worked' for some owners - probably with the same chance of failure as a stock 360.
MS have added an additional heatsink in various units, which has also been shown to be useless.
In short, all these fixes are fairly useless and nothing will fix it other than a redesign of the system.

Seriously, save your money. If your 360 dies, milk what you can under warranty, don't void it with a clamp kit. If it dies out of warranty, either fix it for a fee or wait for a complete redesign and buy that. Maybe even decide to wait and see how m$ products turn out before spending money on them.
