ARS: Explaining The USB 3.1 Gen 1 port.

    that should probably be on the frontpage.

    gonna be a rude awakening to the early adopters when they find out what apple sold them.

    Apple is completely upfront about this on their Tech Specs page where it clearly lists the USB port as 5Gbps. Google is using the same in their new Chromebook, fwiw.

    Interesting from a technical perspective. Hardly newsworthy.

    I agree, but I think there's likely to be a good bit of confusion. We'll all survive. ;)

    Breaking news: "New Macbook USB-C port is exactly what Apple's spec page states it is!"

    In other news: "Apple competition (Google Chromebook Pixel) ships with exactly the same USB-C technology".

    It's hard to get upset when you got exactly what was advertised and received exactly what you paid for. :rolleyes:
