I went to the National Portrait Gallery the other day. Not a singe painting had a notch out of the top, or curves at the side. They were all nicely proportioned with straight sides.

Just because technology means you can curve the screen (Samsung S8, Samsung TVs) or that you can have the screen go all the way to the edge even if it means you need a notch (iPhone ten) doesn't mean you should.

I would have expected Apple to be the one company to use technology discreetly and in a way that benefits the user. It's a shame.

Do you think maybe...maybe it’s because a painting is, you know, a painting and not a peice of technology.

I mean have you tried to take a selfie with a painting? It takes ages. And making calls with a canvas? Don’t get me started.

Anyone would think Apple are about to release a phone with a screen curved like a banana. The way some people are reacting is ridiculous. At least these threads give me some amusement on a slow work day.

Curved screens & notches won't be to everyone's taste, so if you don't like It, don't buy it. Simple. There's plenty of choice out there.

Whatever you need to tell yourself in order to go to sleep, OP.

A static painting != dynamic screen

We get it. You do not like the notch. Do not buy it. Show Apple how unhappy you are.

the Mona Lisa doesn’t let me take a selfie or unlock it with my face so it’s a fair trade off

I like it. LOL da vinci, such an unadventurous artist.

Art often has nudity and humans in it.

Want a human imprint on the back of your phone...?

Ridiculous thread.

While I agree that the notch is stupid, complaining about it on a forum that Apple doesn't even look at won't change anything.

Vote with your wallet and buy an 8 or 8 Plus if you want a new iPhone this year.

Oh man what an insight! Sucks because paintings are absolutely the only examples of art and design in the world...obviously nothing else in the world looks good while being curvy and asymmetrical.
