Here is what the update says about M3:

“Adding in some minor kernel changes for the NVMe and interrupt controllers, Michael was able to boot all the way to Plasma on an M3 MacBook Air!”

They are looking for coders to help with this and M4 reverse-engineering, it all depends on folks with experience volunteering.

No there is not

I would guess someone will have some Linux/bsd type OS booting on m4 by around 2030ish
