Anyone else eagerly awaiting the ASD firmware update that Apple promised to address the poor camera images? I'm still using my Logitech Brio camera until they finally decide to update it.

Wondering what is taking so long...

Same hear, really excited for the update. To be honest, the integrated camera was one of the reasons I got the display. Been in contact with Apple Support over an ASD noise issue and was told 2 times that my display isn‘t running the latest version with 15.4, but 15.4.1 is not showing up anywhere (neither my Mac nor the entire internet ?).

Over the last days I‘ve grown a bit concerned though about how much there really is to fix given all the Center Stage „magic“ Apple does cropping and straightening just a small part of the image and then showing it on 5K…

Actually I'm actually wondering why they haven't released it yet already. Almost everyone is going mad about the webcam quality and it can't take apple that long to provide an update or am I wrong? I mean they must had the camera working in "desired" quality in the QA before lunch I would assume.

I would hope they had it working in desired quality before release. If someone approved the camera as is, they need to get their vision checked.

I have a meeting in an hour that I'm going to use my Logitech Brio for. I really want to ditch it and only use the ASD.

Apple is not known for quick fixes. I would expect any fix to be a part of an iOS update. Apple just released 15.4.1, but it appears that the ASD was not a part of that. So that could mean it may come with 15.4.2 or you may have to wait for 15.5. I would advise anyone who is considering the ASD to hold off on purchasing if the camera is a pivotal feature for them. It could take months for a fix to come out and there is always the possibility that the camera never performs all that well. While I think they will be able to release a software fix to improve camera quality, it is concerning that not only did the ASD ship with it the way it is, but the fix was not in the "Day 1" patch (15.4). On top of that, it is getting to the point where I would have expected some news that a fix was being tested and nearing release. As far as I know, there has been zero rumor or news on the fix since the reviews were dropped.

ASD fix comes with macOS 12.4, and updates Studio Display to Firmware Version 15.5 (Build 19F5062g).

I wonder how much of this is fixed on the monitor itself and how much is a macOS fix.

I updated ASD with 15.5 Beta update and Camera is some what improved but no where close to my Logitech brio webcam. ASD Camera after update is showing same performance(webcam, speakers) with MacOS 12.3.1 and 12.4 Beta.

I would recommend waiting until final release instead of going with 15.5 beta for ASD

I know it’s a stretch, but did you notice any improvements regarding the control center options? E. g. mic modes being available outside of FaceTime or other video effects like Portrait being supported by ASD?

The biggest improvement is that with Center Stage off, framing is no longer completely wrong.
