We all knew from the backing track and choreography that the wrong song was played, and that a number of misleading statements were made in the aftermath. The question remains, what song did Ashlee really intend to perform? After extensive lyrical analysis, timing studies, and diligent processing with the world's cheesiest multimedia editor (iMovie), we arrived at this shocking conclusion.

1.9MB and 5.7MB versions of the results can now be revealed.

Names of the people involved have been witheld to protect the guilty.

They said somewhere that she was going to sing autobiography... but we all know how that went. ;)

Tue, 26 Oct 2004:

This was on the drum riser for Ashlee Simpson next to the protools rig two nights after the SNL screw up.

Tonite's Saturday Night Live repeat is the infamous Jude Law/Ashlee Simpson show. I guess they will run the fiasco again, for those who want to experience it again (or for the first time).

Cool, they restored the original live soundtrack, so now people on the west coast might see what really happened.

I was surprised they didn't cut it out this time.

It was funny to see Tina Fey condole Ashlee after the show since the next week she made fun of her on newsupdate.

I was surprised that they did a promo for the episode saying watch Ashley Simpson do a hoe down and that they didn't cut any of it out.

they played it lol

wow... who would had knowen... i was like no way their going to show it... it is cut or something... or maybe redone so there was no mess up

Anyone who wants to relive Ashlee's wonderfully awful performance on Saturday Night Live from last October can tune in next Saturday night (6 days from now) since they are rebroadcasting that episode.

Damn I thought she messed up again. It was strange seeing this topic pop up.

Some threads are timeless classics and should never be closed, they belong to the people. :)

Maybe this time (on the replay) her band will play the correct song. It was all their fault, you know. I'll keep watching every time they replay this SNL episode until they get it right. ;)

Agreed. Let's just let the poor girl move on. But first another pic. :p
