"He was a Salesman"

Sometimes we forget that little detail of this entire empire that this small company means to all of us.

Apple is not doing bad now, it's just that Tim Cook is NOT a salesman. that's all. and we aren't convinced about his pitching skills.

In this case, it all goes back to his role in That 70's show. People just can't shake it.
Sadly ironic, because that just means he played that role well.

Jobs was such an icon that I don't think anyone could play him in a way that serious fans would accept. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with those fans, just we're too familiar with Jobs, we waited for his every word, we played his presentations over and over - there's no way any actor can BE Jobs, so anyone's going to look flat by comparison.

That said, I've been impressed with what is clearly a pretty smart career Kutcher has carved out for himself, and I can't fault him for playing an idiot so convincingly that we can't see him any other way.

The internet has really become such a negative hateful place...

I look forward to it, should be interesting to see how Steve Jobs is perceived and portrayed. No one knows Steve Jobs here personally...so you don't have the right to say Ashton Kutcher isn't doing it right. He's not claiming to be doing the perfect job, he's saying he felt like he wanted to try and be the guy to portray him because he admired him as a person.

Whats wrong with that ?

Pathetic that people feel that with the internet they can say whatever they want and treat others disrespectfully.

I agree. Always felt that way about Cameron Diaz. People say its because he's typecasted from his 70s Show role but others have played dumb before and seem to be part of the joke. I see this guy and just think damn! He got the looks and his twin got the smarts.

Hes got a degree in engineering, so , hardly dumb.

EDIT: He was majoring in chemical engineering before becoming an actor...Still, pretty difficult.

Says someone who's made $0 acting in his lifetime.
So what?
I made 0 bux acting, too. You know why? Cause i can't act. That doesn't mean i can't judge acting. I can and i see that ashton guy is terrible and awkward in that role.

Go wash you face and take a good look in the mirror before posting useless stuff.

That's good. Cameron could be a genius, too, for all I know. I just have hear their voices and they just seem, slightly off. Not saying I'm right...

H8ters gonna h8

I'm excited to see this movie! I like Kutcher in Butterfly Effect and I hope he does a good job here. I hope it includes an overdramatized version of the original iPod & iPhone keynote!

I only wish Mac Rumors was around in 1999, so I could re-post all the "I can't believe that Noah Wylie is playing Steve" hate comments.

It'd be just like this.

Wow. Seriously. Just wow. Really shows why consumers shouldn't get to make decisions. Henry ford (ford motor company) said it best: "If i would've asked what people wanted, they would've said a faster horse". People are good for making decisions for what they want to buy, not what should be built.

Why is it that some people just look and sound irritatingly dumb? I guess it's not a fair judgement, but Kutcher doesn't impress me at all.

I've read some of his views on tech and investing and the guy is actually really, really bright and sincerely passionate. As far as being an acting talent, I've never seen him do anything noteworthy but he is the real deal in the world of business. His list of investments alone is stunning. I was shocked too - he has a completely different public persona but take a Google tour of some of his interviews and try to hear his words devoid of the 70s Show character. I think you'll be as surprised as I was.

Except He Never Said It

Henry ford (ford motor company) said it best: "If i would've asked what people wanted, they would've said a faster horse".

http://blogs.hbr.org/cs/2011/08/henry_ford_never_said_the_fast.html

...it doesn't appear that Henry Ford ever actually uttered this famous and polarizing phrase. We have no evidence that Ford ever said those words.

However, even if Ford didn't verbalize his thoughts on customers' ostensible inability to communicate their unmet needs for innovative products — history indicates that Henry Ford most certainly did think along those lines...

Roger Ebert has not acted or directed at all. That doesn't mean his opinions on film and actors aren't valid.

That said, I really hope people have the decency to see the film before proclaiming how good or bad it, or the acting in it, is.

i think ashton did a good job but the i'm not happy with the modifications they made to the SJ's life.

"Acting" for Movies or TV is about doing the same thing over and over again until the director picks one that works. Not that hard a job and just about anyone can do it, some better than others but it ain't brain surgery.
AK is not some of the better.

Dammit Kelso! If you keep impersonating Steve Jobs I'm going to have to put my foot up your arse! You're making the man look like a fool! :D
