I think you've sold many of these machines on eBay already right? Only this one has trouble?

I have done all the updates I can think of, and now running Mojave 14.4. I bought this system in May 2009, and replaced the original CPU with an x5680 a year ago. About This Mac still says Early 2009, but a System Report-Hardware Overview shows the Model Identifier as MacPro5,1.

From my reading of the various threads on MR, it's my understanding that this is the expected behavior. That is, About this Mac shows 2009, and Model Identifier shows 5,1.

    From OP:
This line is "hackable" through various methods and has been used nefariously by some eBay resellers to fake their listings so I will not elaborate any further.

the "(2009)" is deduced from the systems serial number via an apple web sever

so first thing I would check is, does the machine have a valid serial number?

I agree with LightBulbFun. But if you done this hundred times, I wonder what makes this cMP so special.

I have seen the odd mac out n about with no Serial number, usually because its had a Lobo replacement and the Apple store/AASP forgot to serialise the new board

i'm a professional since longtime, and what makes me different with other sellers is "i can do better and more", so i'm never satisfait to my work to deliver unless it's perfect. not only the dust condition, or the work condition, in french we say "magniac", dont know how to say in english, but it's not the machine is special, it does work perfect, but the show information is also part of my thought for clients. thank you for your comprehension, even we dont know each other in real, but we are in big familly with the same passion.

yes with your picture, but without "140xxx"
