Hello everyone,
I am trying to understand if it’s possible to ask Siri to play music on my samsung tv.
I have 2 homepods and if I say “hey Siri, play Abba everywhere” I can get music playing on the homepods but not on the tv.
Thing is that my Samsung Tv has Airplay 2 and it shows up in the speaker list of my Iphone so if I use my Iphone I can play music on the homepods AND the tv by manually thicking the boxes of each device.
Shouldn’t I be able to play music on the tv also if I ask Siri on the homepod?
Thanks

I’m not sure about Samsung but Vizio has an input for AirPlay. Does the AirPlay input have to be selected on the TV first?

The tv has integrated Airplay2, as you can see in the picture I can play on 3 devices simultaneously from the iPhone. But if I ask Siri on the Homepod to play music on the Tv, she says she doesn’t find the speaker.
Any idea if this can be fixed?

she says she doesn’t find the speaker.

because there isn't a speaker to find, its a TV

Just tried this...
assign the TV to it's own room in homekit, or at least a room with no other speakers, something like "study"
Then once the music is started, ask siri to "also play this in the study"

Even after doing this, "play everywhere" doesn't seem to hit the TV unless you ask for it.

How do you add a tv to a room? Mine doesn’t show up when i tap on add accessories in HomeKit

Samsung TVs do not have HomeKit support, only AirPlay 2 so you won’t be able to add it there. I just tried this and it worked on my end. “Hey, Siri, play xxxx on the Kitchen Vizio TV.” I get album art on my TV and the music plays through the TV speakers. I can add other AirPlay 2 targets as well.

Not sure if HomeKit support is needed to make this work but maybe try giving it a more specific name. I see you have it listed as “TV.” Try giving it a name like “Master Bedroom TV.” I’m guessing that would be in the TV settings.

I tried changing the name but it doesn’t work. Are you able to add Vizio Tv to the Home Fpr exampe?

Yea but the Vizio TVs support both HomeKit and AirPlay 2. Samsung only supports AirPlay 2. Regardless, I’m able to use my Vizio as an AirPlay 2 target to play music from my iPhone using Siri. Not sure what your issue is. Try using the command to just play to the TV instead of everywhere and see if that works. If not, try rebooting your HomePod(s) and TV. Rebooting your network can’t hurt either, since all of this is using WiFi.

I have sonos speakers, they support airplay but not homekit.
They show up in the home app, as that's the only way to assign them to a room for siri.

you've done "add accessory", and then hit the "I don't have a code" ?

if so, and it's still not showing up, try rebooting everything, TV, router, phones

doesn’t work for me unfortunately… the tv doesn’t show up in the accessories I can add
