I'm really dissapointed to find out that it doesn't cover the back, and was wondering if there's some ultra thin cases for the back... and if it's really worth it? All of you who owns the ASK do you even use a back case? I don't really need the keyboard but since I want a stand case I might as well buy the ASK since it's a 2-in-1. its gonna be difficult typing on a stand anyway so the keyboard will be handy and it can always be tucked away. I'm gonna have to buy something tomorrow because I have no stand for my 12.9 Pro and it drives me nuts . Would love to hear how you protect your back :)

I use a very thin back cover with the ASK (I do not use the ASK anywhere near as much as I thought I would.)

Anyway, back cover was a cheapie on Amazon. I believe this is it:

https://www.amazon.com/ESR-Clear-Pe...ver+12.9+compatible+with+apple+smart+keyboard

This case fits seamless and you can connect and disconnect the ASK with ease.

Do you just keep your keyboard folded in the back or do you use a keyboard-free stand as well?

Does the case you recommend stick to the back? I once used those thin clear soft gel cases and it made this weird "watery" look to the back because of the lack of air.

1) ASK folded in back, yes.

2) Cover is hard plastic and "sticks" to the back of the iPad.

Last response for this slim case, so I will wish you very good luck.

Do not have a 12" MacBook Pro.

The slim cover is very lightweight. I do not take my iPP out of the house. Cannot gauge the weight.

Enjoy your iPP and whatever you get today.

Update

I just bought the ask and I'm devastate because I'm not able to return it now after opening it. It's awful and I'm unable to tilt the screen further back when flipping the keyboard back. It's only usable on a table, but not in bed.

If you bought direct from Apple, you can return the ASK up to 2 weeks after purchase.

Doesn't matter if it's used or not.
I bought it from a store. They claim that Apple told them they are not allowed to take back opened cases. Lame.

That really sucks!

As an aside, I find that I can change the viewing angle to be more vertical when using the ASK by sticking a pen, AirPods case (or some other thin-ish object) between the back of the iPad and the folded triangle. Better than nothing!

I put it back into the box and returned it. thankfully they didn't suspect that it had been opened, so I got my money back :) I think I'm gonna look on amazon for cheap knockoff of Apple's smart case and the magic keyboard. I noticed that the Apple keyboard didn't correct certain words like "Im" to "I'm", where the onscreen keyboard does.

I am in Canada and the source store online has the charcoal grey smart cover for the 12.9 for $19.99 Canadian. Not sure if that would be accessible where you are but thought I would mention it.

And that's by Apple or another brand? It sounds quite cheap. Thank you for sharing that. It's always good to know the cost difference around the world :)

Apple brand. It is marked down from $79. They don't have anything else in that size so I suspect they are trying to clear them out.
