Have any Apple Ultra Watch users successfully assigned the Action Button to get glucose readings using the Dexcom G6? I've tried but the shortcut doesn't work and therefore Action Button does nothing. The shortcut works fine on my iPhone but not the Ultra Watch. I called Apple and they couldn't get it to work either. If you were successful, please tell me how.

I have a complication that shows my G6 number. What do you want it to do when choosing the action button? Pull up the G6 graph?
Yes with the current reading as if I had tapped on the app.

Please tell me about your complication or are you referring to the Dexcom G6 app?

I can use the Dexcom G6 app and it shows actual real time numbers. It’s hard to see here because the hour hand is slightly covering it. It’s at the 3 o’clock position on my Ultra. I have be unable to make the shortcut work to show the Dexcom reading either.

When Series 7 came out, this same bug occurred, but an update allowed users to see real-time numbers in the complication, not the - one shown above. I wondered how the Dexcon G6 app looked and functioned on the Ultra.

Glad to know that it works, for the most part, hopefully, Dexcom releases an update that supports the Ultra and its larger display.

Ok cool!! I now see where I can set this up in the watch face.

It's also good to know I am not the only one that can't get the shortcut to work.

Ok, I will be waiting for Dexcom to release an update. Maybe I need to send them a message via their website so that they will know we are waiting.

yes, there was a thread on here about the S7 and G6, once it works on your Ultra the way it's supposed to you're going to love it even more. Once Dexcom released an update, the larger display of the S7 showed off the G6 complication and made it easier to see and more reliable. I'm looking forward to pictures, thoughts, etc. using it on the Ultra.

It's the most used Watch app I use and hope Dexcom updates it for Ultra users who also rely on it. It's a very important app to many people and needs an update to fully support Apple Watch Ultra, they listen to requests.;)

Does the Ultra turn the complication blue with a - ? Mine is white.

I've submitted a service request to Dexcom. Maybe they will fix this issue quickly. It certainly will help if everyone contacts them and then they will know they have a sizable amount of users who need this issue fixed.

I’m not exactly sure what you‘re asking here, but sometimes the complication goes to 2 dashes and I gave to select is to get the graph and it starts reading again.
my bad, I see it. How is it compared to the previous with displaying easily readable information and complications?

compared to the display of a S7, is it noticeably larger in terms of complications and blood sugar readings (easier to read, going from Series 4 to Series 7 for me).

Dexcom sent me an email in response to my service request:

Thank you for reaching out Dexcom Global Technical Support Email regarding your Dexcom G6 App not working on your Apple Watch Ultra. I checked our Device compatibility list and I found out that the reason your App is not fully working on your Apple watch is that it is not yet compatible with the Dexcom G6 App. We are so sorry to hear that your device is not yet compatible with our App. At the moment, we don't have information as to when it will get approved or compatible.

We continue to assess possible support to all new phones. We at Dexcom run series of tests on Android/IOS and smart devices where we plan to support after they are publicly released. It may take several months to complete the necessary vetting and update. The Dexcom medical device and app are Federally regulated, which means phone models/OS must be tested before they can be used. We currently support popular devices and will continue to responsibly assess, select, and test the many different configurations of hardware and software per cellular provider.

You may visit the Dexcom Help Center to answer your questions regarding your concern:

Thank you again for contacting Dexcom Global Technical Support.

I got the same response when I reached out about Series 7. It was resolved and fixed in a few weeks. Hope the same can said for the Ultra.

I just took the leap and ordered an Apple Watch Ultra 1 hour ago, Titanium Case with Green Alpine Loop Band from Xfinity. It's preparing to ship. Looking forward to trying it out.

I really hope Dexcom releases a fix for the Ultra. It was frustrating using it when Series 7 wasn't supported and things occasionally worked. I also hope Dexcom is already working on a lock screen widget.

Apple contacted me about the Dexcom shortcut not working. They had me do some troubleshooting and asked me to send the logs. I did and hopefully, a solution will come about soon.

Hopefully, Apple can get somewhere with Dexcom but judging by Dexcom's response with anything having to do with the Ultra.

Regarding your concern:

As of the moment Apple watch ultra is not yet on the list of the compatible devices. The Dexcom medical device and app are Federally regulated, which means phone models/OS must be tested before they can be used. We currently support popular devices and will continue to responsibly assess, select, and test the many different configurations of hardware and software per cellular provider.

I'm hoping Apple contacts Dexcom and push them if Dexcom needs to change something. I constantly check my glucose all day every day. One major reason I bought the Ultra was to assign the Action Button to the Dexcom. Without the shortcut working, it's not possible.

Dexcom is a joke at this point. Under compatibility the last watch supported is Series 4, which was released on 9/21/2018. Even though the G6 app works with all later watches if it's not on that list in the link above Dexcom support won't even try to help or escalate to higher-tier support. Apple may bet a better response.
