My powerbook after giving years of service has given up.

    and it's time to upgrade.
I'd like a macbook pro, but they're too expensive.
So, am thinking of an imac.

I used to love playing PC games, but haven't in years (cause I own a mac)

Now that i can load windows onto it, there are so many older games i'd like to get.

    My questions:
Which version of Windows do I install (XP or Vista)?
Bear in mind that I wont be buying the latest or greatest games.

How much disk space do i set aside for Windows?

Will the iMac have problems playing games like
    battle for middle earth
    KOTOR II
    Empire at War
    AoE III
    NWN II
    and the occasional FPS?

    thanks in advance

Wait for new iMacs, it's only matter of time. Should come out in coming weeks.

XP is much better and vista has problems with older games. 50GB will be enough.

New ones will have better GPUs so it should run those games.

Last update was 8 months ago. Yea couple of weeks, late Feb or beginning of March.

If you need it now buy it, won't be any major upgrades. Otherwise wait, you'll get more for same money

I have Vista Home Premium on my iMac and very happy with it. I tried Flight Simulator X and CoD4, not bad at all.

As everyone has said, just use a PC until the newer iMacs come out. We don't want you to become one of those who buys an iMac only to complain about being screwed over when they put out an iMac within (I am sure) a month or so. My advice? Don't buy it until this page says you should. The last update was in APRIL of last year! That's almost 9 months! If you buy it now, you are paying for old early 2008 technology at a price that is now not worth it at all (a price for which you could get much better specs once the new iMac come out). At the least you will get a decent speed bump, at best a QUAD CORE iMAC + BETTER VIDEO CARD (both of which are helpful for any games you want to run)! So simply put, WAIT FOR UPDATE. :D

It is. Remember that ONLY the 24 incher was updated.

The famous 30 inch (nor the 20 inch) has yet to see an update (for 2 years!). Did you notice the little footnote that says that they recommend buying the 24 inch (the only one that was updated in the last 2 years), but not to buy any of the others?

Look at this Apple page, only the 24 inch model has the new design. The others are terribly neglected by Apple.
