I recently purchased a slightly-used ASUS Zenbook 14 UX3405MA and wanted to share my experience and get some advice from long-term users.

Specs:

  • Intel Core Ultra 5 125H
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 512 GB SSD
  • 14" 3K OLED Display
  • Battery health around 90%
With light to moderate use — mainly web browsing, office work, and occasional movies on VLC — I’m getting around 7–8 hours of battery life, which seems decent to me.

Previously, I was using a Lenovo Yoga 6 with:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 5500U
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 256 GB SSD
  • 1080p display
In comparison, I feel the Lenovo Yoga’s keyboard was better. The Zenbook keyboard is okay but not as comfortable. The trackpad on the ASUS is good, though still not on the level of MacBooks. However, the 3K OLED display on the Zenbook is absolutely excellent and is easily my favorite feature so far.

This is my first time using an ASUS Zenbook, and overall I’m enjoying the experience. I’d appreciate any tips, settings, or maintenance advice that could help me keep this laptop running smoothly for at least the next 2 years.

In all honesty there’s not much to do apart from dusting the vents every now and then (they can get dusty) and, if you’re on AC most of the time, use the MyASUS app to limit the charge to 80% if you want to preserve the battery. Other than that maybe changing the thermal paste if temps begin rising too much, but that is not something I’d advise the average user to do.

You Core i5 is one of the best chips Intel ever made. The new generation has less cores and work in higher temperatures.

You can change the SSD for a faster one with more space. I would look for Lexar NM790. Its's one of the fastest available an would fit in you Asus.

I think that Lunar Lake (Core Ultra 2) is more efficient than Core Ultra 1, particularly the H variant processors. The 258V is very good with great battery life and performance comparable to the M1. I've been hearing really good things about Core Ultra 3 as well for high-efficiency though not top-end performance.

If by more efficient you mean more battery life, it could be true. I like the 125H. I think it's kinda sweetspot. It runs so cold and delivers good performance.

Hell Ya! Ultra 3 is groundbreaking!!! I'm excited about the next steps Intel and Apple will take. What to expect from M5 Pro, if M5 delivered such great results?

I'm waiting for the M6 redesign. I don't need more CPU power. Could always use more efficiency and I want lower weight.
