I'm just about to change the batteries for the third time in 9 months on my mouse. The KB is still on its original set. My computers on about 7-8 hours a day, on average.

hmm. I have to say, thats not so bad. From what i was hearing it sounded like they had to be changed once a month.

Searching through the old threads (try it 😀 ) it seems evenly split between people who have no problems and people whose mice eat batteries. Guess I was lucky - or they were unlucky 😱 Yes it goes fast 🙂

thats strange, maybe some people just had higher expectations so ended up being disapointed

Thats possible but some are changing batteries every 2 weeks or so. They're either using their mice a lot or have defective ones. As I said in a different thread it seems that using a BT mouse on a dark surface drains the battery faster. My mouse mat is yellow - I don't want to try a differnt one 😀

The mouse itself is great and the tracking is as good as a wired mouse.
The only issues i am getting in my thread is that the battery is going much quicker than i thought. To date i am on my 6th battery and i have only had it since December. I guess i am on my imac a lot as i work a lot on it.
I think it is great not having any wires though so i guess i will be investing in rechargeable batteries

Yeah we seem to be merging threads. To clarify - I get ~3 months use from my mouse and 9 months (so far - its only on 3 bars) from my KB. My computer is on 7 hours a day on average. Fredstar take it back and make them change it - you've only had your iMac since December. In the UK you can have upto 6 months since purchase to exchange goods - the retailer or manufacturer (the same here) has to prove it's not faulty. Killuminati (cool name BTW) buy one and try it. My 2p - thats twice as good as 2c at the current exchange rate 😀

An employee said 4 months. 🙂

I'm blown away by that statement! I have to change batteries in my Apple BT mouse every 3 weeks and I even take care to always turn it off. I'm sending it back for a replacement.

How do you check to see how many "bars" are left of the BT battery power? Where is that feature located?

The Apple Bluetooth mouse is great as well as the keyboard. The precision on it is very good as well as it doesn't jump or skip and will move as much or as little as you need it too. I've had it for about 3 months and the batteries are still going strong. If you are worried about that, just get the rechargeables and save some dough in the long run.

Choose from the bluetooth menu in your menu bar - to the right of the modem connection icon (note - not the dock). Choose either kb or mouse and then click 'bluetooth' from the menu it gives you. You can also do this from System Preferences -->Keyboard and Mouse-->Bluetooth.

Ah, there it is! Thanks.

I am back home and I am using my mouse. 😀 It took about 7 mins (not like I was counting) to install the firmware update. It is beautiful thanks for the advice. 🙂

A pleasure 😀 . With reference to an earlier post I made - I DO sometimes have a lag on my mouse. I discovered, however, that it was caused by cat hair over the laser - didn't mention it because I figured it wasn't a problem for most people. Easiest way to solve that problem is shave the pets 😀

It glides smoother than the wired one (eww wires). 😛
