This is yet another reason that "cloud computing" should be avoided. It is little more than a recurring revenue model for companies that cannot improve their products enough to warrant users and customers to upgrade or pay for maintenance costs.

So TWO years ago this happened, right? Was it covered up for two years?
And I suspect Verizon will stop the deal in progress.
This is just another indicator of Ms. Mayer's incompetence. Yet, she made $100m per year regardless.

My guess is that Yahoo shareholders will sue Yahoo and if possible, Ms. Mayer herself for negligence.

I bet Ms. Mayer will resign within 30 days.

No she's kinda hot. I say let's just let it go.

Yahoo is dead to me. I stopped using yahoo mail years ago. Apple can remove all instances of Yahoo from the core OS in future versions.

And... now ring in what little credibility Yahoo! was attempting to create. Hark! I hear the bells and the toll for thee!

Nothing to see here move along and forget about it. Because that's exactly what Yahoo and the authorities will do going by the recent hacking cases....

May as well, accept hacking is now just a part of life that no one can be bothered to do anything about, well security companies will offer high paid jobs to these hackers I suppose.

I haven't used yahoo in like 12 years, but I'm wondering if it's time to switch email addresses. Do we really need to keep the same email address for life? Except now it's tied to all my Apple accounts which will no doubt be a PITA.

It's advisable to change passwords every couple of months, instead of waiting to told to change them.
Hacks happen all the time, with seeming increasing regularity; companies are often slow to report.
I change password every 3 months.
Better safe than sorry.
who has time changing their password every 3 months. what happen if they hack your account on the 2nd month.........?

You do not change your passwords every 90 days? Most corporate systems require that. When my job notifies me it is time to change my password, I change that one and all personal ones as well.
I feel like that puts you on the "naughty list" in some cases. After I reset my mom's iCloud password a few times due to her forgetting it, her account kept randomly getting locked. Same with her mom.

There were people still using Yahoo 2 years ago? I think that's the big news there!

Come on, a gmail and a yahoo account are not mutually exclusive i have both but yeah i don't use anymore the yahoo one for serious stuff, the yahoo account is the one i give to vendors or companies asking me for my email nowadays.

Once I received the email from Yahoo that my account was one of the ones possibly involved, I terminated my Yahoo account. Waiting two years to inform me of something as serious as this is unacceptable to me.

I agree 100 percent. Getting my parents to switch from Yahoo will be like pulling teeth lol

This company is run by a bunch of Yahoos. Its one breach after another. They need to slip quietly into the abyss and just go away. Hopefully Verison will clean house and get their house in order.

Am I the only one who's thinking blaming it on an unnamed "state-sponsored actor" (obviously, China or Russia) is a made-up cop out? It sounds more like it's some national security threat that is beyond the ability of anyone to stop, rather than being due to their own laziness or incompetence. And not many in the US look favorably upon the Chinese or Russian governments (except Trump), so it's an easy way to get people on your side. Or am I just too cynical?

The movie Snowden is in theater now. If you watched it, you may change your mind, and judge yourself, who is the most powerful hacker?

I only use Yahoo for fantasy hockey-I can live without that. My yahoo account was a spam account (where one dumps crap emails).

I have deleted my account.

so whats the best way to move my yahoo account to a gmail account??
I suspect google is putting together a process for people. In normal circumstances it is a forwarding but in the case of literally moving all email from one domain to another (let alone changing all accounts attached to) You would have to use some kind of email client (Apple Mail, Outlook, etc) and that "should" move the messages.
