I noticed that the remote has started to act up, my issue is that when I click the right arrow on the remote. The remote just freaks out and goes all the way to the left. The Apple TV gets input when clicking the right arrow but can only go left. Ive been using my phone as a remote. (all other buttons function normally on the remote).

I unplugged the TV for a little bit, remote is fully charged. Any suggestions? I dont want to waste an hour talking to apple support if there is a simple fix.

Everything is on the latest update and have the latest Apple TV. 4k

try rebooting the remote, hold the back (or menu depending on the version) and volume up buttons for a few seconds, (it's the same key combo as paring).

you could try wiping it down with a slightly damp cloth, in case there's something on it that's triggering the touch surface.

and inspect the cracks, make sure there's not some dust/crumbs stuck in there, canned air, or some very gentle work with a pin should help with that.

Now the enter button isnt working, I am not sure what is happening. The remote is barely used too.

Which remote is it, the older ATV 4K remote or the new 2021 ATV 4K remote? If it isn't a physical issue due to dust, debris, damage, etc., then it is possible that a FW upgrade went badly. The remote has its own FW separate from the ATV FW, and when the ATV FW gets updated sometimes the remotes get a bit wonky until their FW updates too. Here lately Apple has been turning out garbage for FW on a lot of their devices, so my guess is it likely in need of a restart or possibly a FW update.

There is another possibility too. Sometimes if the remote doesn't have a clear path to the ATV, then the signals from the remote might not get the reaction they should. Also, other devices can sometimes interfere with the remote's signals. The other day I had an old Inteset IR receiver used for Inteset programmable remotes go bad and it caused issues on several of my device remotes. I forgot I even had the thing connected, and since I no longer use the Inteset programmable remote I unplugged its USB IR receiver module and the issues went away.

Another option,

if the aTV is close to other electronics try moving it.

Mine sits in the wall mount behind my TV, When the aTV is in certain locations, the remote is really laggy, and drops a lot, Sliding the aTV 6 inches to one side makes a huge difference. I think the dead spot is where the wifi antenna happens to be in my TV.

I talked to apple support and they opened a case with engineering, so I will hear back in a couple days. Kind of sucks since more buttons dont work, but at least I can use the app.

Could be an issue with TVOS15, yet another bug.
