I knew it was too good to be true. AT&T's not an upstanding company where they'd live up to their mistakes and honor the orders like that.

Well, we already know AT&T. They don't have to care, they're the phone company. See Figure 1. :D

To be fair though, their page did specify for two year commitment orders, and anyone ordering month-to-month knew it was a mistake (if they had two functioning brain cells). So I can't really blame AT&T for cancelling M2M orders despite my disliking them as a company.

Do they still waive termination fees if you were upgrading from a previous iPhone? I know before they did that as my mom previously upgraded from a 3GS to a 4 without playing termination fees. They just allowed her to sign a new contract.

Canceled as expected. Oh well.... You win some you lose some. I wish my local AT&T's had instore pickup. Those people with it racked up on some killer deals.

Agreed. Clearly the orders didn't meet the terms, so I'm not surprised that at&t cancelled the orders.

One of my lines renewed in Dec 2012 and if I go thru the ordering process on an iPhone 5 16gb it seems to allow upgrade for $100+ activating. Have to go all the way to checkout for it to show though.

Was your device still on contract cause mine still is.

I've not pulled the trigger since the line is for my 22 yr old son and its up to him if he wants to pay to upgrade, but the line's contract is until Dec 2014 at present. FWIW I'm on Premier in case it makes a difference.

If that's the case that sounds great news for me, if my dad doesn't need to pay except maybe $30 for activation, I'll definitely go for it. Thanks for the info.

Remember you gotta go all the way to checkout to see the $100 price. It'll try to fake you out earlier. :)

Thanks ill keep that I mind. :) also if the phone is valued more than $150 and you receive the extra credit could you use that to pay off the activation fee or no?

I saw this earlier today and have been thinking about doing it.

Currently have an iPhone 4s and while I could wait for the new "5s", the "s" upgrade cycle always sucks and simply bumps the specs a little from the real upgrade cycle (4, 5, etc).

Plus if I get the 5 now it's not like I'm losing money since the 5 would still be $99 w/ contract once the 5s comes out in a few months.

Decisions decisions

This S will not suck. ;)

Of course the minimal 5S upgrade is going to suck compared to the leap that was the iPhone 5:
A megapixel bump
A tiny bit faster processor
A second led flash
And a fingerprint scanner

Big ******* deal

The processor jump from the 4 to 4S was enormous, the A5 was about 7X faster compared to the A4 and it definitely shows.

Not sure what you're talking about? The online promo at att.com/att/trade does NOT require any actual trade in.

50% off Promotion.. Slipped Through the Cracks.

So I apparently have no brain cells, because I did not realize that the 50% off promotion was not for M2M sales.

I purchased a phone and it was not cancelled. They charged my card and sent it from the warehouse. It was shipped to me and it was at my local post office and my tracking said "Delivered." However I couldn't find the phone anywhere. I called them up and right when I did it then said "Return To Sender."

They told me to just pick up the phone at the post office when it opened in the morning.

Then I get an email that my order was cancelled b/c I didn't have the 2 year promotion. It totally shocked me. I called them again and asked what was going on and they said that because of this shipping error they caught my "glitch" transaction and since the phone was being sent back to them b/c of the error, I would need to pay $600 for a new phone or get it with contract. Ummmm, no, sorry, I'm NOT having that. They charged my card and it was in my home town, status was "delivered." They should have cancelled my order before it left the warehouse. It would have been completely fair if they had cancelled the order then, however I didn't get a cancellation at all until after I had that "delivered" status and I received all of the normal confirmation emails. I just thought they were being super generous and awesome. But nope. Not AT&T.

I have literally been going through a nightmare these past two days. They charged my account and then sent the phone to me, and they expect me to pay $600? Not a chance. Now I have to wait 48-72 hours for a supervisor to call me back, which is absolutely insane.

I guess I must have slipped through the cracks, but AT&T should do the RIGHT thing and let me have the phone for the price I bought it at. Heck, I had an order confirmation and a tracking number! Of course, as you all are saying, AT&T is NOT an upstanding company and they are trying to screw me over with this. I've been fighting them pretty hard. I have also filed a complaint with BBB for them not letting me speak directly to a supervisor along with supplying me with false information about some other things (this entire debacle is a really long story, longer than this post).

I's their software glitch, and I shouldn't be held responsible for something that is their fault. They should honor the original transaction. What a nightmare this has been.

That sort of scenario is exactly why I didn't try to scam the system with the month-to-month glitch.

Simply return the device for a full refund... problem solved ;)

You made the mistake in ordering. It very clearly stated that it only applied to those who qualified for a new 2 year contract. Somehow your order got as far as being shipped before AT&T noticed. If you want the deal, agree to the terms.

I guarantee it did not say that in my checkout screen. I didn't even KNOW about a promotion until I added a phone to my cart and saw "50% off Promotion" label. I thought it was a glitch, so I tried using my phone and two different computers to see if it would go away. It did not. So I ordered the phone, thinking that AT&T was being a good company and being generous.

Now knowing that the promotion had limitations, I have read the full promotion and see that it was only for 2 year contracts. However I was completely unaware of this for the four days after I had placed my order.

I didn't even know I was agreeing to a deal. I didn't know there were terms. It was not my mistake, it was theirs. Someone is in big trouble for this problem in the software department, I understand that now. But it's wrong of them to put me though this trouble after they had charged my phone and delivered it to my address. On top of that, the supervisor agreed that I should receive a price match.

My order should never have gone through. It was a total programming flop. But it did go through, and I was charged for a phone. Own up, AT&T.

I must have slipped through the cracks when I upgrade my wife and Is iPhones. We went from 11 month old 4Ss to iPhone 5s. The normal cost would hav been $400 a phone as an early upgrade, but because of the promo we got them for $200 bucks a piece. After we sold our iPhones 4Ss we came out on top with an extra $100 bucks or so.

We were supposed to get the no activation fee discount, so we will see how it goes.

but for now, we got $400 discount on buying 2 phones. They arrived and are activated.

Thats funny because I paid for an early upgrade and then paid another upgrade fee. So essentially I would be paying 2 upgrade fees... Nice...AT&T...
