Anybody else having issues activating their phones? I am setting up a 5s and it timed out and said they would send me an email once it is active.... not exactly encouraging.

Mine activated just fine this morning...then I lost service shortly thereafter. A quick reboot fixed things and all is well now (including after updating to 7.0.1 and restoring my backup).

That happened when I was setting up my girlfriend's new 5c last Friday evening, but the email from AT&T indicating that it was now active arrived less than 15 minutes later.

Thanks

Thanks all... makes me feel better that its not just me. Guess I'll be carrying around two phones tonight.

Any Help?

AT&T emailed me but I have no service - from neither of my phones. Any suggestions or quick tips?

Not to ask the obvious but did you call AT&T yet?

Mine restored fine but I needed to call AT&T to complete the activation. I think that or going to a store is going to be your best bet at this point. The actually activation obviously shouldn't take too long.

Good luck!

First iPhone that failed to activate out of the box. It restored all apps through ICloud, but no data or phone. Decided to contact att through online chat. Was activated in 10 mins after that. Guess the servers are busy...

Call AT&T

This was also a first for me. During setup, the phone said I would receive an email as the activation servers were overloaded. I let my iCloud backup begin the restore but after about an hour, I turned the phone on/off, connected to iTunes, and still had not received an email. I logged into my account online and at first it said my iPhone 4S data plan would expire in a month and the iPhone LTE 4G data plan would begin. I then reloaded the page and it said an activation was pending and to try accessing the website later.

At this point I decided to call AT&T. The prompt asked me to enter the number I was calling about. It detected that the phone line had a pending activation and asked me if I'd like to proceed with activating my new phone on that line. After verifying the account information over the phone, the system activated the line. I restarted my phone and immediately had LTE service, visual voicemail, etc.

When I got mine on monday not even the site had let me do the activation nor the automatic phone number, I had to talk to a CS after the failed phone attempt and he fixed it, took him 40 minutes though... Seems my 4S was still showing as the phone for the line and didn't want to leave me.

I was able to fix this problem without talking to anyone right here: https://www.wireless.att.com/activations/activate_phone but there is a caveat, it will not work if you used the upgrade eligibility from say line A to replace a phone on line B. AT&T doesn't care that you do this, but, their system can't handle the activation for it. You have to call. (and they tell you the number for this situation during the activation process on the page linked below)

I got that message as well. A day later it was still not activated. Went to my local AT&T store and she couldn't find it on my account, and even suggested "I" had ordered it some other way as my line was showing as eligible for an upgrade.

After checking my other lines to verify what i said was true, she changed the sim card out and it now works fine.

... but my account still shows that I am upgrade eligible and my contract is still pulling up the old one.

Waited several hours then called 611 and used the automated system. This worked like a charm.

Long story...but my phone is finally working

Activating my 5s (ordered from apple) was a pain as well. I opened the box around 8pm last night (got the message that I would receive an email when activation was complete but finished the phone set up) and received the activation email at 12:30pm today. I missed a phone call from a California number (I live in Missouri) shortly after the activation email and then started receiving weird texts from my "Dad" (also a California number) insisting that he was texting his son. I also sent a couple of texts during this time and it turns out that that they were also being sent from the California number.

I started thinking something was weird and tried to call my husband which connected to AT&T's fraud protection department who didn't find anything wrong with my account but said that my number was still connected to my 4s and that I needed to complete activation for the new phone (thought according to the email I already had). Automated activation over the phone didn't work so I called back and the man I talked to said that my phone had a SIM card that had already been activated and that the only thing that could be done was to go to an AT&T store and get a new SIM card (after he asked me how my day was, about the weather, and if I had any weekend plans).

Well, the nearest AT&T store is 30 min away and my husband decided to call to see if they had a SIM card for it before we drove all the way. They did but expected us to pay for it.

Soooo...my husband called AT&T back and told them that we would not be paying for a new SIM card since this was not our mistake. The customer service rep. that he talked to was VERY helpful and was able to reassign the SIM card to my phone (took a while though). Said he had to do the same thing yesterday.

Kind of a mess!
