I'm a new iPhone user. I'm curious... If I am already paying $30 for unlimited data internet, then why would I care about Wi-Fi hotspots? I already have a network, don't I?

WiFi offers noticeably faster data browsing than 3G.

This sucks, I was on T-mobile and paid for the $20 unlimited data plan with the original iPhone. This also gave me access to any T-mobile wifi hotspot with my laptop, or anyone's laptop, as long as they used my phone number and log-in.

I was kind of expecting that AT&T would offer the same... doh I guess not.

Wi-Fi is faster and AT&T will not penalize you for going over a transfer limit on Wi-Fi whereas there's a 10GB limit or so for non-Wi-Fi transfers.

Depending on where you are, you might not have 3G access and so Wi-Fi will be decidedly superior in those cases.

I used it at starbucks twice over the past couple of days.

Worked well for me. You gotta put your phone # in and wait for a text, but it really it not that big of a pain IMO to get free wifi.

Which I used for 15 minutes straight as EVERYONE seems to be in line thanksgiving morning.

Don't these people have turkeys to bake?

;)
