What part of Europe? I lived there 7 years and never heard of this.

Prepaid card Lebara in Germany for ex. last year for 29euro or so I had unlimited calls in some Europe countries and this has not been the best option.

It's funny how AT&T finally does something right, which also happens to be one of the things people constantly criticize AT&T for, and some of you STILL have the audacity to complain! People are never happy no matter how hard you try to please them. I hate our society. It's all about more for less nowadays.

Dang, AT&T's been in a great mood these past few years! From unlocking my iPhones to letting me share data, to letting me slash my cell phone bill, from giving me free tethering now, and now this!

They've had unlimited international messaging in their GoPhone plans for a while so I was wondering when they'd add this to their postpaid offerings.

Personally my entire family pays $10 a month for each line to get 100 messages and we often go over. My grandparents for example don't have data on their phones, so we rely on traditional messaging.

This is good savings.

So this means WhatsApp is useless. There goes 19 billion Facebook dollars go down the drain.

Whatsapp isn't going anywhere. While it may be free for me to text internationally, it may not be free for the person I am texting.

meaning, the only reason I would use the app was to txt for free internationally but now most carriers in the US includes this service? Why should I keep the app??
In that sense for your situation perhaps that might be the case. Although what about the people that you text, would it perhaps cost them to receive and/or send regular texts to you and thus might still be better to use something like WhatsApp?

Perhaps, my point was there are lot of potential users to be lost. With txt there's a 50/50 chance for a useless service in that sense and that's a huge risk. 19 Bil was wayyyy to much money to invest.

I definitely agree about the rather crazy price of the whole thing.

World Connect Value ... offers low rate calling from the U.S. to over 225 countries

Interesting...

from http://www.worldatlas.com/nations.htm

Many sources offer different answers, and depending on the source, there are 189, 191, 192, 193, 194, 195 or 196 independent countries in the world today

AT&T know something the rest of us don't...?

;)

Dependencies and territories. For example, I'm guessing AT&T considers HK to be a separate country (different country code) whereas it is part of China. And plenty of Caribbean islands are nominally part of a European country (e.g. Aruba/Netherlands; Cayman Islands/England).

My guess is it's a typo. AT&T gave you free texting to over 225 counties in the US and you're all in for a big shock when you get your next bill. :p

We had two iPhones on a family plan with 20% corporate discount, each with the 5GB plan to enable tethering. Bill was approx $160/month.

On Sunday I switched to the new mobile value share plan thing and walked out of my local store with 10GB data shared across 2 lines with a shiny new 32GB 5S in my pocket (traded my 64GB 4S) and a $50 credit on my account and my monthly bill is approx $160. It felt rather pleasant compared to previous visits where I walk out several hundred $ lighter.

I did toy with the idea of TMobile but their coverage is not that good around my house so even though i could have saved some money it would have been at the expense of service. Also when I look at the places I like to vacation (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont etc...) T Mobiles service is non-existant.

How to international text on the iPhone

I'm trying to text a friend in Minsk, country code is 375, the iPhone wants to put a +1 in front of that. I cannot seem to disable it. Anyone know how to go about doing this?
