Conditions like... You have to improve your network speed, get off an antiquated 1995 CDMA Network.

In reality, Verizon CEO indicated they never were approached.

http://isource.com/2011/01/16/verizon-never-approached-to-carry-the-original-iphone/

That is the story he better stick with because if he was and didn't take it, his career should be over. Thats like cutting Michael Jordan from your basketball team.

It depends on you definition of approached. I know people who worked at MVNO's who were approached as Apple was looking at options. Even if Verizon was offered the iPhone it is not a career ending decision as AT&T took a massive gamble and in the end pissed off a lot of customers.

The speed argument doesn't work for a lot of people in high density areas as sure AT&T is fast but can I make a call, hell no. It is like the argument that you can not surf and call on CDMA. Yes great argument but a lot of people in high density areas would be happy making a call.

-1 for AT&T when my contract ends.

Nail in the coffin when dropped call research showed that AT&T really does suck

1) Actually, it is true all around
Evidence? I can obtain the same contract I currently have with AT&T for the same price from Verizon: 450 minutes, 250 texts, unlimited data, all for approximately $80/mo.

5) AT&T 3G Coverage is WAY better then it use to be. Come on out of 2008.
Cold comfort when I'm sitting on the top floor of my building next to a window in downtown D.C. and have spotty voice and data service.

AT&T's talk and surf thing is so pointless

You can talk and surf on verizon if you're on wifi, and when are you ever not on wifi?

Also, when are you ever able to hold a call on AT&T long enough to surf in the first place?

I drop at least 30% of my calls, if not more than that. An iPhone on AT&T is pretty much a fat iPod Touch that costs 80 bucks a month

With AT&T buying T-MobUSA, I think it might actually be the way to go now.

That will take a long time to see a benefit, maybe as much as 2 years, which happens to be the length of a contract. I just jumped from TMob to Verizon for an iPhone.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

I'm going to stick with AT&T, I've been with them since it was Bell South mobility in 1999, and I never had problems. Sure I drop some calls but then again, who doesn't? I dropped a call today but that was because I was in the basement of a building made of concrete and my signal was practically non-existent. I guarantee that would happen on a Verizon phone.

A more plausible explanation is that the I'm-leaving-ATT-as-soon-as-Verizon-gets-the-iPhone blowhards were hardly representative of the market.
I thought all the other blowhards were just like me.

Here in Los Angeles, I had good reception from Verizon before Apple released the first iPhone. I switched to AT&T to get the iPhone and had poor reception. I switched back to Verizon the first day they had the iPhone and I get good reception again. Family plan with all three contracts. Never had any other significant problems with either company, although I'm disappointed that competition didn't lower prices more.

I hope AT&T and Verizon each make at least a $5 billion profit this quarter for providing us with cellular service. Where would we use our iPhones and iPads without them? I don't even care if they have to raise their rates, as long as they make at least a 30% profit, I'll be happy.

As long as more iPhones are sold, it becomes more compatible with higher percentage of all phones. So another Verizon or AT&T phone sold is just great news to me.

I hear you, life will be great when everyone has an iPhone. It's soooo exciting.
