I hardly ever make calls so it's not a big deal to me, because I either text the person or use FaceTime.
Well for starters, VoLTE finally works right on the global unlocked A1522(i.e. "Sprint") version of the iPhone. It would drop to 4G before.
Strange, it doesn't seem to be working for me. I'll have to test it when I'm in a known VoLTE area. AT&T can't seem to confirm if the towers near my home do or do not support it.![]()
You might need to reset network settings. Be sure that "Voice & Data" is selected in LTE settings.
AT&T's maps show where they have HD Voice coverage. Technically, you get HD Voice only if you call someone else on AT&T (and Verizon later this year), but calls should still route on LTE within an HD Voice area even if you call a land line or other carrier.

Go to settings then about you should a prompt for carrier update.
I just tried this and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
The coverage maps show that I have HD Voice in my area, but the CSRs on the phone said that they can't confirm which towers near me support it and which do not. I'm not sure if they even know what they're talking about, one of them was telling me that T-Mobile is CDMA and uses Sprints network and that Verizon uses a hybrid CDMA/GSM network...
Anyway, when making a phone call my phone still immediately kicks over to 4G instead of LTE, so I know it's not working as it should.
I've found that the AT&T reps are clueless about HD Voice. They'll insist that it doesn't route over LTE unless you are calling another HD Voice phone (not true - VoLTE works irrespective of HD Voice provided you are in an HD Voice area).
A few months ago when I got the iPhone I finally got to level 2 or 3 and the rep was able to figure out that there was a SIM provisioning issue causing VoLTE not to work. Apple's chat rep was also very helpful making sure it wasn't something with the phone. He even called me back and e-mailed me later in the week to see how things were going.
I'd try the following:
- Swap the SIM in and out
- Reset network settings
- Toggle "Voice & Data" off and on
If that doesn't work, ask the support rep to speak to a supervisor and check SIM provisioning.
Which model do you have? The AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon (A1549) or the unlocked (A1522)?
I didn't notice a difference last night when I made a phone call, but that was before I updated to 19.1.
Does the other party also need an iPhone 6 to tell a difference? They currently has a 5s.
I'm on 8.1.2, going into About doesn't prompt it to update the carrier file. Guess I'm out of luck?
Correct, it won't work on a 5S, it has to be a 6 and 6 Plus.
It prompted me before when I went into Cellular.
*I could and usually am wrong...
Weird, mine doesn't wether I'm on wifi or LTE, and regardless of going into about and cellular, no popup. Neither if I plug into iTunes. Not sure how to force it to check.
Mine doesn't either.
Are you still JB?
Im JB on my 6 Plus on 8.1
Maybe that's why.
Yeah jailbroken on 8.1.2 ... but the other users must be too if they're still on 8.1.2, and they're saying it pops up for them, so I dunno why.
Not sure if the other ones are JB or on stock 8.1.2
Cause we know that the JB blocks checking for ios updates and all it does it keeps spinning so it might also be blocking the carrier update would be my guess.
Wonder if we can install the .ipcc in any other way.
I've never heard an HD voice call on my iPhone 6 but if it sounds anything like FaceTime audio then I'm not looking forward to it. It's not a natural sounding call.
