Our power went out here, for only half the town, and AT&T's 3G went down too. I would think they would have a generator, or some kind of backup power. The edge tower which is on the other side of town is fine, but when 3G is enabled, the phone simply shows No Service, but when off, it shows E.

Most cellular sites do have battery backup or generators per FCC rules put in place after Katrina, I believe. After a hurricane here in South Florida a few years ago, it was impossible to connect to a tower for a few days.

It's possible you can't connect to your single tower because of overload?
