Hello, people, I plan to upgrade to new iPhone that gets release in September but I'm on contract that ends on 9/22/2016 the day of my birthday but when I check eligibility status is says eligible for at&t next upgrade does that mean I can upgrade before the 22 of September so I can preorder next iPhone

There is no contract updates available any more.
You can upgrade but you will either have to pay full price or do the monthly payments on the full price of the phone spread over a set amount of months and added to your phone bill.

I know that but my current line still on contact ends sept 22 2016 and it says eligible for AT&T next upgrade does it mean I can use that at&T next upgrade before my contract ends or does it have to be on the 22 exact

when I do preorder do i just logging to the at&T account then pick the line I want to upgrade I will be ordering via the apple online store app store in the fall

You can do the next upgrade right now if you want.

Will do that

Other question when i do order the iPhone in the fall via Apple online store app do I just logging to the AT&T account with the phone number and password then I pick the phone number I want to upgrade right

I think you might also qualify for apple's own iphone upgrade program also. That way you can get an iphone today with AppleCare and after 12 months you can trade it for whatever iiphone apple comes out with next

I would go to the apple store and have them check your contact and see if they would do this before going to next

Remember with next the payments last 30 months, they just call it next 24 because thats when you can upgrade to a new model , your still on their hook

Apple would be like 24 months with a choice of upgrading after 12

AT&T would be like upgrade at 18 and the payments ending at 36 months, iirc

AT&T does not offer applecare

i will find out thanks

update I contacted AT&T My currently line I did on 2 years contracted with the 6 in 2014 then I gave that to my dad in 2015, the last September I used my mom line to get 6s plus They told me I can do an at&T next upgrade only if I trade my 6s plus or wait until the 22 September till contract ends

I Could use my dad line I used that in 2013 on installment to get 5s 64GB space gray that was paid off may 2015

or I can use my cousin line to upgrade

Which do you recommend at this point trade in the 6s plus to at&T,wait till the 22 or I use any other line

Or Do I do the apple installment plan my local apple store is 5 minutes away from place how does that work ?

Sorry for long writing it too hard to explain

All the information this person provided is incorrect. buying from Apple or att using Next is no different.

Incorrect statement 1. Att doesn't offer Apple care. They sure do but obviously prefer to sell their own protection products.

Incorrect statement 2. Att next is next every year. Trade in at 12 months and pay off in 24. Or att next which is upgrade at 24 months and pay in 30 months. No such 36 payment exist and 18 month upgrades hasn't been a thing in a few months at this point.

Who cares if I said anything wrong. Its just nitpicking. Screw AT&T next. Get it from the Apple Store instead. And it will be unlocked. Did I say that AT&T included applecare??? I don't think I did? Mayhbe it was a typo??? I think its better to get the iPhone from the Apple Store. I bet the unlocked phone would allow you to keep paying apple for the phone and allow you to tell AT&T to go get lost and go to sprint. Or vz or t-mo

When you buy AT&T next you are on the hook for the balance of the phone in 30 months and you have to pay off the phone to switch carriers.

I believe, although I am not sure, that if you buy the iphone from the Apple Store, you are only on the hook for 24 months, and you can take your unlocked phone to any carrier you feel like it
As often as you like, try that with AT&T next buddy

And with Apple you get the same 12 month upgrade period

Ask AT&T if you can switch carriers with their next.
Ask apple if you can switch carriers with their iphone plan

Iphone upgrade iphone 6s plus 128 gig
$44.91
Iphone is unlocked
Upgrade in 12months
Phone paid off in 24
Incldues applecare

AT&T next choices

No apple care

AT&T Next Every Year: 24 monthly installments; eligible for upgrade with eligible trade-in when 50% of the full retail price is paid off (approximately 12 monthly installment payments). A 30% down payment may be required. ( so that would be $282 down and $27 a month ? )

AT&T Next: 30 monthly installments; eligible for upgrade with eligible trade-in when 80% of the full retail price is paid off (approximately 24 monthly installment payments). A 30% down payment may be required. (So tha would be $282 down and $22 a month ?)

Applecare if not free with the apple iphone deal. Its mixed in with the payments

Apple as far as I know, apple does not have a down payment. Now that apple has their own payment deal ,there is really no point to getting an iphone financed from the carrier. Its just going to be locked to them until its fully paid off. The only reason I would get an iphone from AT&T is buy one get one free deal, otherwise I would just get apple's program
[doublepost=1469953240][/doublepost]Today I learned after 9 months or so AT&T has given the green light to A1687/1688 Phones. awesome

Can more people with these phones check their IMEIs to see if this is true?

What I do from apple website I choose AT&T next then I pick my apple care from Apple website

But the difference is with the Apple upgrade plan you pay monthly for the AppleCare instead of the full price, with that being said if you upgrade your phone in 12 months you will only pay half of the Apple care unlike att next you would have to pay for the full thing of apple care and lose it when you get a a new iPhone if you upgrade at 12 months.

if you cancel Applecare (ex: after after 12 months)... you can call Apple and they will give you a prorated refund.
