Anyone care to list the phones apart from the iPhone that aren't already 3G?
well, you're right by being suspicious. I actually had this information for a while and am a long time reader of these forums, but was always too lazy to sign up, being I had nothing contributing to say except for this. But then I saw a poster writing that he needed advice on which HDTV to buy, and I have the particular one that he talked about, and felt I could steer him into the right direction. I had no homework, so I signed up. I figured, since I'm already signed up why not tell these guys what im 90% sure what the release window will be, due to the fact I have a source, and my information could really help some people out (like the people debating whether or not to buy an iphone right now).
Get it in Europe, Mr. Jobs, and I'll be the first in queue.
In Oldham...
I wonder how apple really feels about AT&T. If an apple employee said something like that we would be reading about the legal action.
he did say couple of months before that. but it wasn't a direct quote from gizmodo.
regardless, the implication is clear. he was in conversation, it's going to be soon.

The only reason I can think of for Apple continuing to sell the 2.5 version along with the 3G version is to not lock themselves out of potential sales in areas where 3G is not available via AT&T. Other than that I can't see why else Apple would want to continue to sell the old model.
I think Apple would want to keep in line with the one size fits all product line up. (with slight variations in specs , ie hard drive space etc) but then again this is the cellphone market so who knows. I think Nokia has 100's of models out lol.
3G chips roll back to EDGE when 3G is unavailable.
I'm sure your cousin, who must work at a Vault 100 firm, violated confidentiality to tell you this information. Right.
Just to avoid any confusion, I am calling you a liar.
I know this was not addressed to me, but if I may, it seems very "unapple" to have one product line with two completely different technical standards. Generally, once they roll out an update, the old models disappear and the new ones take their place.arn,
Do you think that Apple will continue to sell the 2.5G iPhone alongside the 3G iPhone - or do you think they'll just sell the new model??
June. In line with the SDK.
Must be.
Ok so dont believe me if u don't want to, just dont call me a liar, my cousin is a lawyer who writes patents, and lucky for me, one of his clients is apple (he actually helped write the multi-touch for more than two fingers patent, and told me about it before it was patented. he says it will be like the technology they show in "Minority Report.") He told me the next iPhone will be in October 08.
This was in october 07 that he told me, so I don't know how valid this is. But if June isn't the month, you heard it here first, October.
Anything before June wouldn't make sense in my mind, but how do you explain the lack of inventory? After the iMac transition to Intel supply chain fiasco, I can't imagine Apple would cut production this short.
The only logical hypothisis I can come up with is they are planning a new country launch and need to build inventory. What major Asian countries are EDGE only? Thailand and Malaysia come to mind... but are India and China 3G yet?
Knowing Apple, they would live to milk sales of the EDGE phone as much as possiblebefore the 3G launch..
CDMA? Sorry, no way! If Apple wanted to make a CDMA phone, they would have done so last year.Sweeeeeet! Come onnnnn CDMA iPhone announcement as well haha a guy can dream cant he?
I corrected the error for you. A FCC approval is not needed for sale in other countries, such as Japan. This isn't possible, there will be an FCC report released on the 3G iPhone's technical/wireless performance probably months, maybe weeks, before it begins going on sale in the United States.
How large and heavy does he want the iPhone to be? What does he want to do with it, given that there are currently no 4G networks in commercial service?Let me trow another thought... Why aren't we hoping for a decent device with 4G? My current telecomoperator does not invest in 3G but goes for 4G in the (very?) near future.
My WAG is that Apple will just obsolete EDGE and price the 3G phones at US$100-$150 over the corresponding iTouch (which is close to your prices). Since we have a 32GB iTouch, it makes sense for Apple to release a 32GB iPhone (and, who knows, maybe we'll even see a 64GB iPhone). And, so, I'll guess that a 32GB V2 iPhone could possibly be around US$599-$650.Say:
EDGE 16GB - $399
3G 8GB - $399
3G 16GB - $499
