Undoubtedly there will be some fallout from the launch with some of it being related to network strain and some related to "something changed so the problem I'm having now MUST be related to that change" syndrome.

Just a novelty thread really... Or is it? Only time will tell.

Just to break the ice :D

How on earth do you think us meely users will be able to tell WHY a Network is down? Sorry, no disrespect, but I don't think anyone here works for that Section of AT&T.

    Approximation.

If at the time, or shortly after, the new carrier config is released and suddenly problems arise.. most people would consider it reasonable to attribute it to MMS traffic.

Not saying that's correct thinking... but that is the conclusion and how it will be drawn by many.

My concern is when I do the update in iTunes, I won't be able to connect to activation or stuff like that.. just like when 3.0 was released. You'd get hung up in the activation process.

The update for this won't require activation unless they actually update the OS... but I doubt it.

Carrier updates are really small. I doubt it will cause a major load like a software update does.

Yeah... I doubt it will put too much strain on the iTunes servers themselves... so shouldn't be too many issues if any at all getting the actual carrier file.

Pre-release... I have never had this good of a signal in my apartment before. I can finally see some improvements with these 'upgrades.' I guess it will probably never get better than this now. :/ South Denver FTW

I'll be interested to see if you notice any diff after the deployment of MMS.

I haven't noticed any improvements here (SE PA) since 3G was initially rolled out.

So I originally started this thread as light hearted/half joking... but...

I do in fact notice significant 3G network speed impact in my area since a little after 1PM EST.

The current speed tests are clocking in at about 400-500k... typical in this area is 1400-1700.

I am in SE PA at the moment, Norristown to be exact.

Anyone else noticing a data network impact?

I haven't made any calls as of yet though to know if calls are dropping or garbled.

The entire network in my area is down and not working. Literally. All the towers have fallen over, and there are little crosses over their eyes and their tongues are sticking out.

I'm having trouble making any calls now over 3G. Had to drop down to EDGE. All my 3G calls say "Your call cannot be completed as dialed." This is Seattle, WA.

I noticed that too in the suburbs of the seattle area, but I just drove over to the eastern side of the state, and everything is fine over here, most likely due to the old person to iPhone ratio. :) but 3.1's battery bug is still killin me.

South Carolina is going strong... My 3GS and my girlfriend's 3G are working fine tonight. Let's hope it stays that way.
