No clear way to title this.

Lets say you are on a Share plan on your brothers account. Your employer offers a discount but his doesn't and he is the primary person on the account.

AT&T used to say that you would need to do a transfer of responsibility to your name for the discount to work. Plus if you had any NEXT plans, you would need to pay them all off in full before you could transfer.

Now they have changed the rule. Anyone on the account who qualifies for an employer discount can apply that discount to the plan.

2 things need to be done.

1) You must be listed as an Authorized User (this can be done online or by phone)
2) Apply here https://www.wireless.att.com/business/enrollment/

The discount of 17% hit our account 3 days after I submitted, though it says it can take up to 2 billing cycles.
$100 20GB plan is now $83 plus the savings on $17 worth of tax really helps. I was on the regular $100 10 GB plan but took advantage as others did last year when it was offered.

I have yet to hear of this for authorized users. To my knowledge the only official way is for the account holder.

That is why I am posting this. It is new.
Authorized user just needs to go to the website.

You might want to change the title to "AT&T now allows Employer discount for authorized users on Mobile Share plan" so it won't be confusing, or just put non-primary users. Though they haven't really released a statement about this so we'll see, sounds like a YMMV but I do hope this would be a permanent change.

The way I found out about this was calling AT&T Customer Service asking if they had updated their policy to add the employer/FAN discount without transfer of responsibility. The guy said yes because of a recent changed and walked me through the process. So would only be YMMV if that one guy from AT&T had misinformation that actually worked.

LOL--they OP just TOLD you! AND explained how to go about.
Yea that is a "backdoor" way of doing it. If the authorized user comes into a store and verifies by ID or paystub it WILL BE REJECTED. So yes, this may work, but its not ATT's official policy.

Odd, I'm the primary account holder and I've always used my wifes corporate discount on my plans. I've had the discount for the past 3 or 4 years. She's only been an authorized user for a couple of years.
