Sure, they may be putting preorder stuff in place. Or they may not (trust me, these kinds of downtimes happen all the time, even when no new phone is due). Either way, to conclude that that means upgrade eligibilities are going to change is seriously leaping to conclusions. And it's certainly not worth a "OH *****!"

HA HA ..I remember that last week around the same time, ATT had bumped the second batch of early 3GS people...Hopefully, they will bump the other people as well (the ones with January and February dates)... Shiznit !!

Too serious? AT&T wireless is down... Apple's eligibility check tool is down... and AT&T's SMS upgrade check is down... and as of 12am tonight, it'll be a Sunday and we'll only be 2 days away from preorder. I imagine tonight would be the perfect night to update their system.

Or it's possible that AT&T's MyWireless, Apple's upgrade eligibility check, and the SMS upgrade check all tie into the same backend system, and the backend system is down for maintenance. And I'm sure AT&T is capable of changing eligibility dates without taking down the entire system.

You all are taking this way too seriously.

nah, because it was down for maintenance one night but i was still able to check my upgrade. no one is getting overly excited, i just noticed it and thought i would make a post.. who knows.

Precisely.

Really....anyone who thinks this is a big deal just doesn't know how corporate IT systems work. The data is stored in one place, and other systems access it. If the place where it's stored is down, then everything else is unavailable. If AT&T took their customer account system offline for maintenance, then anything that connects to it obviously isn't going to work.

Yeah, I thought of that... maybe you're right. Sad face.

Well, since last night I can't get into my ATT account online, nor can I get any response out of the Apple eligibility check form.

I sold my iPhone yesterday and have been using my Blackberry for the past 2 days without a blackberry data plan. It's still all messaging and the AT&T site is down but the *639# worked for me.

I am still:

"As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee."

:)
No worries, here.

Right now:

Online access for Wireless accounts is temporarily unavailable. We are in the process of enhancing our online experience and it is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience; please try again after 3pm CST on Sunday, June 13th. If you need immediate assistance, please contact customer service at: 800-331-0500 or 611 from your wireless phone

It's after 3 PM CST and I just want to check my previous month's usage for my iPhone so I can know how much ATT is rooking me by forcing me to change from my current unlimited data plan for iPhone after 3 years of iPhone data plan subscription.

Its after 3pmand myupgrade eligibility has changed for no apparent reason to nov 2011. Im thinking aboutcalling 611 or should i wait

Mine is still down....

However, Apple will check and let me upgrade at the low price.

EDIT: *new# back up

Ahh, they are not forcing you to change your existing unlimited data plan if you have it now, you get a choice of your existing iPhone data plan or one of the new ones. Just a reminder you can always switch to one of the new ones at any time, you just can't switch back so what's the rush?
