I know they never will though.

To me 512 Kbps or 600 Kbps is at least usable. Slow but usable.

128kbps is better that being cut off. At least you can still send a text or email. Just gotta wait. Tbe tethering data limit is ridiculous. If I have a cellular iPad and an unlimited AT&T plan, I can stream video forever and not get hit with a data cap. But if I tether an iPad or laptop to the phone - blammo data cap.
I think what they're trying to prevent is multiple users piggybacking on one cell account via tethering

Drop them. Honestly, they are an awful carrier IMO. They are all pretty bad in some way but ATT is sneaky, nasty and cheap a$$'$.

Plus, 128kbps????? Thanks for stacked 56k modems, but I'll pass. Don't want to saturate those telephones lines too much, others have to use faxes and stuff! I get more speed through a cheeseburger than that.

Sorry for negativity, I truly dislike that company.

I wish I could but we get a really good discount with them right now. If that ever changes we will drop them for a different main cellular carrier.

We are not locked in with our phones. They are fully paid. So that is not the problem.

Will be interesting how next year looks (2022) late next year i guess with 4g lte and 5g coverage then. Like rural areas too.

We are in the same boat. I agree with the above points but the Loyalty Discount we have with AT&T after being among the first customers when Cingular Wireless was formed is too good to pass on.

We really are not “Heavy Users” either. Only averaging around 40g a month on 4 lines.

I agree 128 kbps is slow, but it is doable. They are trying to prevent people from abusing it, but honestly I feel the 30 GB hotspot is more than enough. I get a great discount with AT&T, we have the Unlimited Elite and get it for $35 a month, have zero complaints. We had one instance where the home internet was out, so I turned on my hotspot and connected my Apple TV to it and we streamed TV for the remainder of the night and only used about 6 GB of data. And of course every line on the account gets a 30 GB hotspot. After a while my wife hooked up hers to her laptop to get some work done, kids used theirs with their iPad's, etc... Mine mostly gets used when traveling for my laptop. I get it that everyone's needs are different, but I do feel their hotspot plans are sufficient. And even with the 100 GB of premium data we get for each line, everyone is still on WiFi when at home and to my knowledge, no one has ever gone over that or their 30 GB hotspot.

You get a discount for that?
I’ve had my same mobile number since the mid 90’s and Bell Atlantic mobile turned into Verizon wireless in 99/2000 so I’ve been with VZW since before they were VZW and all i get from them is “wow, thank you for being a customer for that long”...

A few years ago during an AT&T plan change where we were not allowed to keep our grandfathered Unlimited Plans (can’t remember exeact retails) we were looking at a serious increase.

I made my way up the chain over the issue over a day or so. I finally reached an individual in a “Special Department “ and explained my length with the company and that I would take my business (5 lines at that time) to T-Mobile if they would not reduce the costs.

Long story short I was given a discount that brought the new plans to the same price point as before. They have not moved since. Now, I was quite aggressive and pushed very hard. I believe it came out to around 15% on top of my current 20% Government discount.

It wasn’t easy.

The only discount that I’m getting from VZW is my veterans/military discount, which is 40$.
I’ve never had to escalate any issues, but not just you but i hear of so many others that are getting an extra “loyalty discount” as well, maybe “it’s the squeaky wheel gets the grease”...

All I can say is as before. " I pressed VERY hard, and it took a day or two." Where did you serve? I was AF from 1980 to 1993.
