When can we expect weekendsales numbers?

Probably never. After the mini launches, we might get "November" sales figures (unless it's released 11/29), and we'll certainly get quarterly numbers. However, if they released weekend launch numbers for the Air, it would give analysts some data to work with regarding the mix between Air and mini sales.

I'm sure sales were high, but comparing weekend launch of the Air with the weekend launch of the *cellular* iPad from last year seems unfair. I think more people opt for the wifi only model, but I have no data to back that up.

So I am considering buying the T-Mobile version for the 200MB per month free.

It's only a matter of time before the other carriers have to react. Will they match the T-Mo voice\free data\free intl roaming deals that are now out there? No, but they're going to have to come up with something to prevent the bleed that this is causing.

T-Mo is a viable competitor now. For phone service? Maybe, just depends where you live. For me, it's not perfect as in-building coverage needs work, and LTE needs to be a little more reliable to make the switch.

But for many of my friends, the movement is gaining speed... many say "I can deal with the pitfalls in exchange for the price and value-adds that T-Mo offers" and are switching.

I did deactivate my AT&T iPad... got the T-Mo 200mb plan, as they have the flexibility to use it for casual use, then buy a day pass as needed. I really like that flexibility. That cost ATT a subscriber right there.

The T-Mo deal is huge when you think about it. If you want to justify the $129 cellular model premium, T-Mo is your deal... for a light user the plan is fantastic, and the $$$ you save on the monthly plan pays off that $129 real quick

I'm going to have to see and feel both the new iPad Air and Mini in person to decide which to buy. It's a toss up for me.

Who has activated an iPad on AT&T? I have been a faithful follower of AT&T for many years, but with the amazing T-Mobile deal, I had to jump ship! Much better deal.

Even if true, there's no reason to think that the cellular versions are selling at 3x the volume and the wifi versions aren't.

Since they pretty much lied about that deal, I can't see myself ever buying a tablet from T-mobile.

Maybe this news just shows how few people activated iPad's at last years launch weekend. iPad Air activations are up threefold from what number?

IMO - the iPad Air is simply the best product Apple has launched since the iPhone 4. Using it is remarkable. I was so close to moving on from Apple. So close to buying a Nexus 5 and moving away from iOS.

I didn't purchase the iPhone 5S (the first iPhone I haven't owned). Then the iPad Air happened. It's plain magical. If there was a product SJobs really helped build it was this one.

I would agree with you had I not just bought the 15" MBP and Mavericks. Hands down the best Apple product I have ever owned. I am simply in awe of it.

What leaves my jaw dropping is how Photoshop carries on, without flinching even as I hit 10MB of remaining RAM. Mavericks is legendary in this regard.
Sorry for going off subject a little.

Woohoo on the iPad sales ;-)
