AT&T continues to provide amazingly bad service ...

The AT&T web order status page has not updated since I placed the order on 6/11. It still says that they will process my order shortly. I called the order status telephone # today and it sez that my 16GB, white 3GS is on back-order. When I placed the order, AT&T did not indicate that the phone was on back-order and the confirmation e-mail only said that "if" items were on back order, they could ship separately.

So, now the question is ... should I just cancel my attempt to order via AT&T on-line and go to one of the AT&T retail stores instead? I am not sure that Apple stores would handle the "premier" account stuff properly.

I ordered my iPhone 3GS on June 10th at 4:14 PST. I received a "prepared for shipment" email on June 11th. That was the last I've heard from Apple. My order status has not changed. I did not select overnight shipping in the ordering process because the phrase "Delivered by June 19th" was plastered all over everything. My order status still says "delivered by June 19th," but I'm worried I haven't received and info yet.

What's also troubling is my mom says that her credit card was not charged. Also, under "Shipping Method" it says "Priority." Does this mean Apple is shipping me my iPhone through Priority Mail (which will take a week at best) or does it mean that my shipment is a priority to Apple and I'll receive it Friday?

I would have happily waited at the AT&T in the small town near where I live. I could have easily got in and got out but I figured getting it shipped to my door would be pretty cool.

Also, receiving my iPhone early would be a dream because I could activate it early and avoid the server slow down/crash like last year.

I've never ordered anything from the Apple Store before and I do not have an Apple Store within 150 miles of my house.

Any help or reassuring words would be appreciated.

I did my online thing for instore pickup, so is it first come first serve?

It tells me to come in on the 19th.

Should i go super early and get in line or what?

Do not order from AT&T on-line ...

I called AT&T to ask what was going on with my order. I placed it on-line as an equipment upgrade to my 1st Gen iPhone last Thursday. The status web page still says that they received my order and would process it shortly. When I called to talk to a customer service rep ... he could not pull up any information on my order after being on the phone for 10 minutes, he "claimed" to have seen the order, but could not access it. I can not cancel it or find out the status. AT&T clearly has screwed things up again. Definitely the gang that could not shoot straight. I ordered on-line from AT&T because I am a "Premier" account via my place of work. Clearly, that counts for absolutely nothing. The CSR keeped repeating that all iPhone 3GS orders would be delivered on or after the 19th ... well DUH!!!

So, I think the best approach would be to either Apple on-line, Apple in store, then AT&T in-store in that order.

I am hopeful that AT&T gets their cranium out of their rectum sometime soon and figures out what happened to my order. Luckily, they have not charged my credit card yet.
