u should be able to cancel the data plan since u are unsubsidized but u said that they charged u pay per use therefore ur data plan is canceled im confused do u want them to put a data block on ur phone

anyway for all those people poking fun at the people who say verizon will be better wat they are trying to say is that while verizon is not god they will be competing with att for ur buisness so its obly logical to think that they might lower data prices they WILL DEFINATLY REQUIRE SOME SORT OF DATA PLAN THO if the phone is subsidized all im saying is that competition is good for consumers if verizon is competing with att for iphone customers it makes sense to think there prices/ rules may be diffrent to attract customers

Assuming you're not simply joking, how exactly are you doing so? As far as I've been able to tell, iPhone OS has no support for Bluetooth tethering as a client using either the DUN or PAN profiles. If it did, there'd be a bunch of very happy iPod touch 2G owners around.

I was definitely joking. To do that, I would have to carry two phones around with me everywhere I go. That's definitely not me. I like to carry as little as possible - which is one thing I love about the "all-in-one device" iPhone.

They switched me to pay per use without telling me, but I called up and switched back to the $20 data plan. At the same time they erased my pay per use bill, and said they can only do that once. I agree that being unsubsidized you should be able to choose what you want in your plan, I don't know why these other people think they should be allowed to force things on you when you are unsubsidized. It seems to me this is a way to force squeeze as much out of their customers while they can, and hopefully will open an opportunity for other carriers to take advantage of, and cause AT&T to change their ways.

Also, to the other commenter, $20 is $20, it's not that we can't afford it, it's that we don't want to waste money on a service we don't need.

BTW, Thanks for cleaning up my posts Yellow.

You see, I avoid this detection by tethering my iPhone to my RAZR, which then connects via it's own SIM card to the network. :D haha

Haha indeed. I wish there was a way do to that on a 2G, as it would fool the O2 network into sending me my incoming MMS's instead of sending me a stupid message telling me I got an MMS and it's on a stupid website!!
