I have AT&T's old unlimited smartphone plan. I am beyond sick and tired of getting throttled to 0.50mbp every month when I exceed 5GB. I have read that many people do not get throttled anymore. How is this fair? Maybe AT&T just doesn't have enough bandwidth here, I don't know.

Anyone know how to bypass the throttling on AT&T with the iPhone 5S?

Do you have LTE in your area? I am throttled on HSPA+ to .49kbps but on LTE I can still reach 5mb sometimes more.

Try to, but it just adds up so quickly. Mostly from spotify. Have wifi pretty much everywhere, and I'm always on it, but I still always hit 5GB.

i don't know about the radio, but you can cache spotify music locally on your device to minimize data use

Stop using so much data?

If you have the old unlimited plan, you can still switch to the enterprise unlimited plan. It costs a little more but doesn't get throttled.

AT&T throttles me every month @ 5GB ):

...so that you can always have throttle speeds!!

Lol, I laughed at that even though I have Sprint. But seriously their speeds have gotten so much better since I got the iPhone when they first came out with it... Their 3G speeds are very usable and I get around the same as verizon 3G speeds, however LTE is a whole different story lol.

5gb? Good lord! What are you doing on your phone? I never get above 1.5gb of data / month. I don't see how you are getting 5gb used... That's a lot. You'd have to be on the phone 18hrs a day with no wifi.. Oh well, I'm just curious about the useage.

I've never been throttled before, can't share my experience with you..

5 GB isn't that much. There are people that use ten times that much. I easily use over 5 GB a month with iTunes Match streaming. I always use my phone for music in my car, and many days I drive for two hours total during the day. That's not even that much to be honest.

If you have the old unlimited plan, you can still switch to the enterprise unlimited plan. It costs a little more but doesn't get throttled.

Can you elaborate on this? I might be willing to pay $45/mo for truly unlimited data, but how do I know its really unlimited? I have never heard of this before. So one could you 10GB, or 20GB of data and not be throttled?

Maybe it's purely coincidental, but that trick WORKED. I don't get it, but I'll take it.

It'll be interesting to see if it lasts/works again, but holy crap!

On a side note, can anyone confirm the enterprise thing? I'd gladly pay 15 bucks more for more true unlimited than 5GB.

Lately I've been throttled at 5.0000. Not a single mb more (until the trick tonight). Only exception was right after I purchased the 5S. Maybe a similar trick occurred at the time causing the system to unthrottle?

Anyway, ymmv, but it works for now!!!!

That trick worked for you? What version of iOS 7 are you running? I'm running 7.0.3. Here's what I did:

Turn off LTE via the cellular settings
Toggle Airplane Mode
Dial my own number
When prompted, I disable airplane mode and the connection resets
I then toggle LTE back on
Still throttled

Maybe I did something wrong?

That didn't work. Thanks though.

That's because there's a few extra steps they forgot to mention.
After you do all those you have to jump up and down 3 times, clap your hands twice and then touch your nose with your right hands index finger with your eyes closed:D
Enterprise or not you will still get throttled.
Not much you can do about it. Some get away with more data before they get throttled maybe in less congested areas. I seen 6-8GB's of data and even though I got the text from AT&T I didn't get throttled.

Try turning off your phone first, then doing that. I didn't do differently than you though. When trying to repeat it I had to reboot to get it to work again.

Swear on my life this worked. Maybe it's just a glitch in random towers.

I'm shocked as anyone, and doubt it'll keep working, but who knows?!?

Wifi everywhere, always on it, still going over 5GB. This doesn't really add up. When you aren't on wifi, you need to stop watching movies, listening to spotify, etc.
