I recently switched from AT&T to VZW because of the new UDP. After I paid my final bill, which included the balances to be paid off on my iPhone's Next plan, I tried to submit an unlock request through their website. Unfortunately, the website kept telling me that my device was ineligible to be unlocked because I had an outstanding balance on my phone's financing, even though it had been paid off. I finally got AT&T to put in a case, and got the phone unlocked. I even restored the phone using iTunes and got the "Congratulations your phone is unlocked" message. However, the AT&T site still says it can't be unlocked. This kept me from being able to sell the phone on Swappa, because they won't allow you to list unless the AT&T website says it's unlocked. So now I want to just sell it on eBay, but I was wondering if this will cause any issues for the end user. I have an email from AT&T confirming the unlock, and I was able to get the unlocked message from iTunes, but the fact that the website still says the phone is ineligible is concerning. Has this happened to anyone else before?

I would still list it and sell it unlocked since that's what it is.
I don't think swappa checks what the AT&T website states.
Just list it as unlocked and the buyer won't have a problem using it since you got the messsge and proof from AT&T.

Thanks. Swappa actually cancelled my listing because of what the AT&T site says.:( They would not accept my email from AT&T, basically said get them to change their website or sell the phone for parts in the "boneyard" section.

Have you tried following up with AT&T to have them fix the incorrect reporting about your device?

If you can't get AT&T to fix the site quickly, order a GSX report ($1.00). It will give your buyer some added peace of mind that the phone is in fact unlocked.

I sold many iPhones on swappa before but never had them check the AT&T site. Must be a new thing they're doing.
So list it as an AT&T locked iPhone.
Or better yet avoid all that bs and go with Craigslist.

Lol :D
You have better chances of hitting the powerball!
AT&T is useless when it comes to unlocking iPhones.
They will probably give him the runaround for weeks till he gives up as usual.

Well, seems like it's not so much about u locking but correctly reporting that the phone isn't on a device payment plan anymore and has been paid off.

Yes but getting them to do anything right is a complete nightmare.
If the op has patience for it I'd try and make a call but most likely he'll get nowhere with them.
Especially if you don't have an account with them any more they will go out of their way not to do anything for you and not help you.
They are horrible:)

I get that in general. But when it comes to financial dealings it seems that they should be more responsive as those things can affect credit ratings and the like and there are more consumer protections that exist for that than for something more cellular industry specific like "unlocking".

I hear you.
Hope they correct it for the op especially if it has any effect on his credit. That would really suck to take a hit due to their incompetence.
