So AT&T unlocked my out of contract iPhone 4 yesterday through their website and had me restore through iTunes which showed me the "Your Phone is Unlocked" or whatever the exact phrasing is and the system stayed at 6.1.2. Then I Jailbroke the I phone with evasi0n which went without a hitch and now Cydia is on my screen and works through WiFi but is it still unlocked? I'd like to know so that I can sell it and know what to tell prospective buyers. I guess my confusion is weather Jailbreaking disables the Unlock.

In Settings > General > About > Network it show the network as Not Available but Carrier as AT&T 14.0. If I click Network Not Available it says the SIM not provisioned. (the original AT&T SIM card is still in it.)

However on my new iPhone 5 it shows Network as Verizon and Carrier as Verizon 14.2 which is correct.

    Thanks,
    David

Jailbreaking will not "remove" your unlock. Unlock done through iTunes is permanent.

    Thanks...

Thanks for the info, nepalisherpa. And, just to be clear. There's now way to check the unlock status other than inserting a compatible SIM from another carrier or checking one of the unlock services online which I've heard are unreliable?

    Thanks,
    David

That would be the only 100% way to verify.
You can purchase a T-Mobile sim on ebay for $1-2 or so or borrow someone's for a few minutes.
But like said once its unlocked officially its forever unlocked and no matter how many times you restore, jailbreak, update firmware it will not lock to any carrier.

    By the way...

Do I leave the old AT&T SIM card in the phone when I sell it or not? What are the advantages vs. disadvantages of doing this?

Nope, you always sell the phone with no sim.
Its not like they can do anything with it anyway.
They will have to get their own sim with their phone number from their carrier.
