Well, this is disappointing. I'm confused as to what my options are. I have three lines on a family plan that I use to upgrade every year. One contract is up next year (used it for the 6), the other two are up on September 20th of this year (upgraded to 5S on both).
AT&T's site says the following: Congratulations! This line is eligible for an AT&T NEXT installment plan upgrade. Or upgrade with a 2-year service agreement. Upgrade fees may apply.
Apple's site is giving me the option of paying full price, or upgrading via AT&T Next. After the 20-30 payments, the phone (6 Plus 128gb) still ends up costing the full $950.
Are subsidized prices with a 2-year contract no longer a thing? If so, it might be time to jump ship to Verizon. I don't want to pay $950 for the phone, be it via installments or all at once. Even if I do switch, I'll be faced with the issue of upgrading again next year.
EDIT: From what I understand, we'll be able to get subsidized pricing via AT&T. I'd much rather order through Apple. Will it be possible to get subsidized pricing at an Apple retail store?
