It was shipped a week after the launch day and then took another week to get to me because they shipped it ground. By that point, I bought another phone and when I returned it, it got lost at the post office and it took att 6 additional weeks to credit back my card. And every time I called them, it took 30-45 min to get a rep on the line because I have an enterprise account.

And this is At&t's fault? The phone was on its way, why not wait the week or 2 for it?????

I'm on next 12 I have 1 payment left and I'll be eligible with trade in. Does anyone know if I pay that last payment will I be able to preorder like normal and turn in my 6+ when I get the new phone? I didn't know if att was going to be difficult and make it a same time trade which will be impossible with the new phone and no stock.

Why would you do Next if you have a grandfathered unlimited plan therefore eligible for 2 year subsidies?

2 year subsidies is probably the biggest benefit. If you don't use your subsidy you're leaving $400 on the table.

At the time we made the deal, Next was relatively new and if I recall correctly we were offered discounts and incentives on the IPhone 5s to modify our terms with them. Like I said, we were able to keep unlimited data, which is NOT what they wanted but once the negotiations were underway and they found out how stubborn a businessman my husband is, they let us keep rather than risk us walking away and retaining our subsidy. I'm sure they were most concerned back then with weaning customers off of subsidies than they were with getting rid of unlimited data. Or at least they were with us.

We did lose the subsidy but gained the freedom to upgrade any of our lines in our family plan whenever we want.

Hopefully pre-ordering through local AT&T store if they allow it this time. Didn't get to pre-order last time since there wasn't any pre-ordering of the 5S when it launched. So I had to drag my self to the AT&T store at 6am and stand outside in line for 2 hours to get one on launch day.

Unfortunately won't be able to do such things this time around, so hopefully I will be able to pre-order 6S Plus from AT&T store.

Quick Question:

If you pay full price for the iPhone 6s Plus ATT then you should not have any issues ordering it on Apple and keeping grandfathered UDP, correct? TIA!

We are taking pre-orders for the 6S/6S plus.

Yes, you'll be able to pre-order and then you have to ship the old phone back when the new one arrives. You'll have to pay the last payment at the time of pre-ordering the new one though.

Thanks I'm gonna pay the last payment this week I'm not going to leave it to chance that I don't get credit in time.

I have zero interest in doing Next. Want to keep my unlimited data and 2 year contract. Sucks that the only place I can pre-order will be At&T website.

Since ATT messed up preorders last year I'll be purchasing through Apple's application with the NEXT program. Soon as the phone arrives I'll walk into att and pay it off in full. That way I have the phone right away and unlocked before they start selling unlocked devices outright.

How did AT&T mess up the pre orders last year?

I didn't know that they allowed pre orders through the AT&T Store at all. This would be another option to check out.

You probably saw this post already but someone said you may be able to pre order through the AT&T Store.
I'm in the same boat as you and trying to develop a strategy to have my phone on launch day.
With tongue-in-cheek (because reps in the AT&T Store may give different answers depending on who you talk to) I might stop by the AT&T Store after the official announcement on the 9th and see what they say about pre orders.

Yeah,AT&T "messed up" by opening orders 7 minutes prior to scheduled time, allowing thousands of us to order early. And get ahead of so many folks. I hope they mess up again.

My preorder thru AT&T went very smoothly last year. It arrived at 9:50AM on the morning of launch day. It doesn't get any better than that. While others waited in line at the Apple Store I drive by on the way to work, I chuckled since I already had mine activated and fully charged.
Yes,AT&T went smoothly for many of us as they opened orders ~7 minutes prior to schedule.

Well, this is disappointing. I'm confused as to what my options are. I have three lines on a family plan that I use to upgrade every year. One contract is up next year (used it for the 6), the other two are up on September 20th of this year (upgraded to 5S on both).

AT&T's site says the following: Congratulations! This line is eligible for an AT&T NEXT installment plan upgrade. Or upgrade with a 2-year service agreement. Upgrade fees may apply.

Apple's site is giving me the option of paying full price, or upgrading via AT&T Next. After the 20-30 payments, the phone (6 Plus 128gb) still ends up costing the full $950.

Are subsidized prices with a 2-year contract no longer a thing? If so, it might be time to jump ship to Verizon. I don't want to pay $950 for the phone, be it via installments or all at once. Even if I do switch, I'll be faced with the issue of upgrading again next year.

EDIT: From what I understand, we'll be able to get subsidized pricing via AT&T. I'd much rather order through Apple. Will it be possible to get subsidized pricing at an Apple retail store?

The pricing, from what I've read, for the prices for the 6s and 6s Plus will be the same as the current models under a 2 year contract. Apple no longer offers these phones with subsidized pricing, however AT&T currently still offers 2 year contracts on iPhones with subsidized pricing. I went the the AT&T store, myself, a couple of days ago to verify that 2 year contracts with subsidized pricing for iPhone are indeed still available through AT&T.
I'm not sure that this is true, but it's my belief that AT&T is responsible for the Apple Store, Best Buy and other retailers not offering subsidized pricing.

Are people paying the Monthly Access charge? I'm on a grandfathered plan and I currently don't. I'd be okay ordering through Apple and switching to the Next program but I don't want to get hit with a new $40 monthly charge by doing so. Especially since I'll stick to my grandfathered plan so I won't be getting the $15 or $25 discount.

Yeah, seems like we have to order through AT&T this year. It'll be my first year not ordering with Apple, and I've been upgrading annually since the original iPhone. Hope AT&T works out.

There's no way I'll ever sign up with Next. Adding to my already high ($120-140) monthly bill wouldn't be good. I also like to sell my phone when upgrading, so I'm not sure how that would work. It looks like I'd have to pay the full unsubsidized price to keep it. The idea of "leasing" a phone rubs me the wrong way.

I agree with everything you just said, except my monthly bill is about $75.
I, too, will be traveling in uncharted waters (by ordering through AT&T instead of Apple) this year.
I feel a bit unsettled with this change, more accurately not sure about the AT&T experience.
