I’m trying to decide whether I should get Att insurance or AppleCare plus. Any advice?

Personally, I would choose AppleCare Plus. AppleCare is valid internationally, so I can get service easily when I'm overseas. But that might not matter to you. Then it's about the service offered. I tend to trust Apple more than a wireless carrier like AT&T.

Lost/stolen coverage is a huge factor for me. Other reasons for me to choose ATT: declining deductibles if no claims; easy to cancel; 24 hour replacement (I have an ATT store nearby but no Apple store).

I have AppleCare on other devices but I'll never get it on my phone again.

Lost/Stolen coverage is definitely important considering the iPhone X is over $1000!! if you don't mind me asking, What's their deductible when replacing the devices because of a broken screen or if it's been lost/stolen? One thing I like about AppleCare is that the deductible isn't bad at all. I think under $30 for a screen replacement and $100 for full replacement I believe.

Thank you all for your feedback. I really appreciate it!

The ATT insurance is $8.99 per month.

The X isnt listed yet but the 8 Plus 32gb is $225 and 256gb is $299 deductibles for reference. But after 6 months no claims the $299 goes down to $224 and after 12 months no claims to $149. If you trade phones up yearly expect at least a $224 deductible if not more for the X i its own tier.

Screen repair is $89 (again no idea if that will include the X, the X may be it's own category)

The lost/stolen part helps (even $300 is better than $999), but for damage may or may not be cheaper than no insurance at all when you add in all of the months you paid in $9 plus a deductible versus Apple's out of warranty costs.

no one has any numbers yet though to say anything certain; only Applecare has said its $199.

ATT doesn't have the iPhone X listed yet at link but it's a safe bet it's the most expensive tier, Tier E.

Definitely highest tier.

For damage Applecare is likely the best deal; $29 screen repair and $100 damage, plus $199 Applecare cost (which FYI can be prorated and get a refund if you upgrade after 1 year per its terms; you get 50% back minus a few dollar cancellation fee. So it really only costs $99.50 per year plus your deductible for whatever damage)

AT&T Insurance through Assurian provides coverage for lost or stolen phones. I lost my iPhone 7 Plus and the deductible was only about $120.

I put mine on my Home Owners insurance (Renters Insurance for those that rent). Costs a whopping $8 bucks a year, and covers damn near everything.

I personally buy AppleCare+ along with adding it as a rider to my insurance policy for the lost or stolen part. My deductible for the rider is $100.
