I wouldn't only have this. No way. If it was much cheaper maybe, but if your going to spend this sort of cash best to look elsewhere.

(something about that doesn't make sense...oh well :D)

So to answer the question: The point would be $800US or less.

I think the rMB could definitely be my only machine - right now I have a 2011 13" MBA, which is just a tad slower than the rMB. My main concern is the ability to use an external monitor. Right now I plug the MBA into a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display, which is wonderful with the mini displayport and MagSafe connectors. It seems that at the moment, the rMB will have to drive a HDMI display with the Apple adapter, and the power brick plugged into the adapter along with a USB-A connector for wired keyboards and/or external drives. This solutions seems like it would work fine, but it's not as elegant as the Thunderbolt Display setup. Apple surely must have some sort of USB-C Display in the works; they haven't updated the Thunderbolt Display since the days of original MagSafe power connector.

1) When there is a simple connection to a 27" Apple Monitor
2) Once I can buy wireless keyboards for my other computers that match the spacing and feel.

The first is only a matter of time now that TB3 ->USB-C. I'd wager that there is an upcoming design refresh for the MBP/Keyboard/Trackpad/Monitor lineup.

Right now I have essentially the same apple chiclets on my laptop, docked home station and work computer. I love not having to deal with multiple keyboards. *muscle memory*

This is my only machine. I have the 1.2/512 model, and have had zero problems using it on a daily basis for both work and personal tasks. The battery life is stellar, and it has plenty of power to handle everything I throw at it. Plenty of storage. I personally don't need the ports and haven't been hampered by the single USB-C at all.
