No, I have not tried to install this update on my iMac 2.4 as I don't want to mess with what is working well at the time. I am tempted however. The blue scree does happen from time to time but it is not a real concern.

My Mac Pro (early 2008) still has crashed 2 times since I installed the update last week. :( It has always happened when I'm surfing the web. It doesn't seem to matter which browser, either Safari or Firefox.

No ATI 2600 update succes at all??

Has anyone had any luck with the ATI 2600 update?

Did anyone with severe problems discover any solution?

Anything?

I, my self, did update, and so far no problems...

Is it true that this update has no thermal management software? People on Apple's support forum have been complaining that it just leaves the card's fan on full all the time.

In this age of environmental sensitivity, why would Apple release such a thing?

I have heard it too, but my card fans runs like they should! I do not not hear any louder noise since the update...

I did the update on my Octo 2.8 and see no differences at all. However, I am not a gamer so perhaps there are some changes in that area.

I'm no gamer either, but I suffered from the freeze issue.

Did you have any issues before the update. Fx. the freeze issue?

Well, I've had my Mac Pro for 2 weeks and added 8GB of OWC memory to it. I've had smooth sailing in all areas. No freezes, no crashes, no reboot after wake. Updating the ATI firmware did nothing for me that I've noticed so far. No noticeable change in performance or fan behavior. Granted, I haven't really pushed the machine hard yet. I mostly run Safari, iTunes, FCE 4, and a few other Apple apps.

I've had no issues with the update at all. I was having the freezing issue and since the update there has been no freezes. No increase in fan speed or heat issues at all.

Anyone with a 2007 Mac Pro tried to update this?
I just tried it and it did not update the card. Also I have not had any issues running this card, putting it to sleep (I never turn my systems off). I also have it running as the primary card running my ACDs displays and the 7300 powering my Wacom Cintiq 12WX. Still not problem like others mention here...
I wonder is I should just skip it all together?

+20 Watts power consumption

I measure my Mac Pro's power consumption. After the update it takes 17-20 Watt more (under exact same circumstances of course).

A non-objective observation: I believe the Mac is slightly louder after the update, which would make sense if the card draws more power = likely higher fan speed.

I have the same machine and have noticed no difference other than a few games are really messed up. My kids play Pirates of the Caribbean online and the graphics were great before the update. Since the update the graphics are so messed up that the game is sometimes unplayable.

However, I'm not going to reinstall everything just to fix game play. I just keep hoping that Apple will issue an update that fixes everything.

PowerMac HD2600XT

I bought this Card and it was a PC version and a 512Mb AGP, do you think that i can install this firmware onto the card and it will work with my G5 or is this firmware just for the MacPro with the PCIe

Thanks
also do you know if i can flash this card to work with my G5?

Does anybody know if there is a possibility to get the revision 236 ROM for the 2600 XT? I cannot find it anywhere. I did the upgrade to rev 252 but I shouldn't have done it. I do not notice any difference in stability but I can clearly hear the fan of the card now which is also a lot hotter than in Windows. Sadly, setting the clocks of the BIOS does not change anything, although this works with the 4870...
I hope flashing the card back to its previous ROM will solve the issue.

I only use this card as a second card therefore I want it to be cool, quiet and low power rather than fast.

Is there anybody who skipped the 2600 XT update and is able to dump the old good rev. 236 ROM for me?
