Hey guys,

I just got my first iPad from eBay today and when I went to download Atomic Web browser it was no where to be found. I then went to the official web page and clicked the download link which brings up iTunes and I got this message:

Your request could not be completed. The item you've requested is not currently available in the US store.

What's up with this? Does anyone know why this app disappeared? I prefer this browser to Safari so it's kind of a bummer.

They are updating the app....I too am waiting for the updated version.

I think he is probably removing the 4/5 finger gestures. I think you could switch among tabs that way. But with those gestures coming surely in the next iOS update (and available now using the xcode trick) my guess is he wanted to be ahead of the curve.

I think the developer should at least release a updated version using the latest Nitro Javascript engine found in iOS 4.3.

I updated my iPad to iOS 4.3 the other day and the only browser that showed improvement in Sunspider benchmark was Safari. Atomic Browser shows no improvement.

Apparently, only Safari has access to the new JavaScript engine:

Wow, that sucks! Hopefully there's a way of "enabling" it in the current version of iOS 4.3.

I don't want to give up iCab or Atomic for the sake of performance.

I will still use icab for the same reason I still use firefox over others:functionality.

I hate how Apples such a closed dictatorship!

Especially when it didn't used to be that way.

With their rising success over the years, they became big enough to strong arm & threaten

Not a very good feeling for the customer!

For this case of using private APIs I don't have a problem with Apple policing that and kicking out apps that don't conform. That is good for customers because it prevents apps from suddenly starting to fail to run properly after an iOS upgrade, at least for reasons of a change to an unpublished API.

Where I do have a complaint is with Apple's breadth of features as far as public APIs are concerned. One has to ask oneself what Atomic was trying to do with a private API and, if it was something reasonable that can't be done any other way, then why didn't Apple have a public API to do that? One example that constantly bugs me is the lack of public APIs to control the radios. No app developer can write a simple app to do a one-button toggle of Bluetooth or WiFi and get it approved for the app store because Apple doesn't publish a public API to control the state of the various radios (unless they introduced one in 4.3) so one needs to jailbreak to get those sort of apps.

interesting timing of the pulled app (same week as iPad 2 release)...:cool::eek::confused:

EDIT: It is back on iTunes!! With even more features.

I still can't post in forums with Atomic. I haven't used it since June when I sold my first iPad. Is there a fix?

Ah, Google is my friend. :)

For those who don't know, change the browser identity to desktop or iPad Safari.

Just did the update and it seems to be way slower now. Anyone else seeing the same?

Never mind. Rebooted and seems to be okay now.

Get iswifter app for flash.

Do you think iswifter is better or skyfire? I've been using iswifter and it's ok but that pop up is annoying and was wondering if im better off just buying it, but if sky fire is better I'll just get that.
