so I went into an authorized corporate att store to get an esim and try it out . Well I went in there and they got the esim to show everything was fine on there end but my phone still had no bars after going through the process and wouldn’t work at all with data calls or text . What could be causing this I know they left the physical sim in since it would be a dead sim at that point. They scanned qr code changed imei and all that . Still no go . I’m on iOS 12.1.2

I don't know whether this has anything to do with it, but there is no reason to leave a nonfunctioning SIM in the tray, especially because iOS looks for the physical SIM before it looks for the eSIM.

This is just a guess, but I'd remove the SIM and then put the empty tray back in.

This is what I had to do when my T-Mobile cellular plan was put on an eSIM. Support even told me to make sure the old SIM was removed.
