So I submitted an unlock to att and got approved for an iP5.

I did a restore and still not able to Unlock. I never got the message on itunes saying its unlocked. I've tried everything even submitting unlock request again.

On the iPhone it says "SIM Not Vaild"

I was a Previous att customer (4Years ago). I currently have T-Mobile

Any Help???

Thanks.

This is the Email I got from att....

Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your AT&T Mobile device.

We have reviewed your request and confirmed that the device may be unlocked. You should complete the unlock process before porting out your number for use with another carrier.

Please allow 24 hours upon receipt of this notification to complete the unlock process.

Did you already port the number over to another carrier? I don't know about this stuff but if you are on T-Mobile then you don't have a valid AT&T SIM in the phone (which sounds like it's required)?

I assume you followed the process for AT&T previous customers and not the process for current customers?

Same exact thing happened to me. Took over a month to correct and I had to spend a ton of time on the phone with both apple and att because neither had ever heard of such an issue. Apple sent me replacements which gave the same issue. It was something with apples 'activation chain'. Eventually they sent me a complete replacement to fix it and that worked.

But if you're not a current AT&T customer, you shouldn't have been approved for an unlock.

Yea, I missed that part. I was an active att customer when I went through this so your situation may be different.

But if you're not a current AT&T customer, you shouldn't have been approved for an unlock.

That is not the requirement -- you can be a former AT&T customer and get an unlock. But you have to be or had to have been a customer.

For example, I got my mother's iPhone 4 unlocked using my former AT&T account.

I just called AT&T they said that they were gonna transfer the unlock to a specialist. Hopefully it gets unlocked.

This happened to me as well when i tried to unlock my iPhone 4. What you need to do is resubmit the unlock request and it should work.

Not to thread-hijack but I am in a similar situation as the OP. I submitted the unlock request to AT&T and got the same confirmation email. Is there a way to complete the unlock without clicking "Restore iPhone" in iTunes so I don't get forced to upgrade the firmware of my iPhone 4?

All you need is to stick another carriers sim in and connect to wifi to activate it.
You don't need a full restore even though they suggest one.

Thanks I've tried another sim but all it shows is no service. How do I then activate it is wifi?
