I remember reading on AT&T's site last year somewhere that one would have to make the first two scheduled payments before being able to pay off the remaining balance in one lump sum. I don't know whether or not that has changed, though.
I was going to get the full retail AT&T 6S Plus. However, since Apple came out with the SIM free model early this year, I canceled with AT&T and got the 128GB Sim free model instead. I think this one is better since there won't be any issues activating it with Verizon if I ever decided to go back with them. They won't activate a AT&T model even if it is unlocked.Last year I paid it off on the day I bought it. All done online. No need to wait.
Two sounds like it's about right. I don't see why someone would even bother doing Next VS paying full retail for it instead if all they are going to do is make the first 2 payments and pay it off anyway. But that's just me I guess....I remember reading on AT&T's site last year somewhere that one would have to make the first two scheduled payments before being able to pay off the remaining balance in one lump sum. Oh poo. You're no fun. Let the man brag man. That was a pointless waste of time. Just buy a full price upgrade or purchase unlocked iPhone outright.
Hopefully this thread is soon closed.....
Great to hear that.a few points:
1) it's an interest free loan, you don't gain anything from paying it off early. If you were truly trying to make/save a buck you'd keep that money in whatever investment or account and keep making money off ATT. I never turn down an interest free loan.
2) I have unlocked every NEXT phone I've owned before paying them off as I travel quite a bit, process takes a couple days.
3) You can pay off the phone online in a matter of minutes if/when you do want to sell it.
4). You sound like a bit of a tool.

I'd say sell it and try again. This is why I will never use eBay to buy phones and always use local craigslist so the phone can be verified with a carrier and tested.Great to hear that.
I recently purchased an iPhone 6s AT&T on eBay.Prior to purchase,I asked the seller about the ESN status and was told that the device has got a clean ESN.Hence, assuming that I would be able to unlock it for just about a dollar or two,(since I didn't want to use it with Att),I went ahead and purchased the phone.
Thereafter,on inquiring more,I came to know that it's under ATT Next plan. Also I requested Att on their website, for the unlock request, twice, but was denied, saying,"
You have not completed all the payments for your device according to your AT&T Next service agreement.
You can submit a new request once you complete all your device payments."
So,now I have two options.Either I can use it with AT&T as it has got a clean ESN and can be activated on their network,or I will have to buy third party unlocks, which although, are tried and tested, but would add up to the cost of my phone.
Hence, can somebody Please suggest me any other solution for unlocking the device?
Also,I need some one's help, who currently has an ATT line/phone number,I heard,if they request the unlock(with the IMEI I will be providing),the phone will be unlocked by AT&T.So please Help. Thanks
Well if there is no interest, it's not so much debt really as cash flow management. They would have got it anyway...fast or slow. I'm not a deadbeat. There is NOTHING wrong with paying off money owed early. I sell iPhones on eBay too...I NEED it unlocked. Now I have more options. Only a dumb generation can't understand the advantages of being free from all debt. I'm 44 and I own two homes. I rent one of them.
#1Usually u have to make 3 payments on att next. That's what's been written and told to me.
So they should not let u pay it off so soon. Unless u were in ur first 14 day period.
I rather wanna use it after getting it unlocked. Please suggest me an alternate. And if somebody already has an ATT line,it can be UnlockedI'd say sell it and try again.
