Hello folks,

I was hoping someone here knowledge here can help answer a question and potentially give some advice. I noticed the recent deal at ATT about buy one get one free iPhone. I'm planning to buy a 64GB iPhone 6S+ and use the $650 credit to get a second one.

My questions are as follows: I have an iPhone 5 in really good condition which apparently will net me $85 at the apple store after a buyback. I also have a $75 gift card from apple from before. Is there any way I can use these gift cards as part of the ATT promotion? That is to say, use them to "pay off" some portion of the phone. If not, how would you recommend I optimally use the ATT deal and the gift cards I have?

Thanks so much folks, and I wish all of you very happy holidays! :)

You can go to Apple Store and use the $75 merchandise gift card to by an iTunes card. Then enter iTunes card number into your iTunes account. Use to buy apps, music, Apple Music subscription, iCloud space, whatever. The phone you can sell outright for probably more than the $85 Apple will give you.

Why don't you go to Best Buy where they guarantee 200 on trade in of iPhone 5 and 5s to upgrade to 6s

Many thanks for your message. The reason I'm not going to Best Buy is because I wil only get $200 and not $650 that AT&T is offering through its buy one get one free deal with AT&T Next.

They have the same deal going as ATT. You can use the trade in to pay down on the phone you want and get the 650 dollar next credit to get the free phone.

That's a crazy deal! I can trade in my iPhone 5 for $65 it seems. So that saves me an extra $265 it seems. Of course I can't use the $200 on the phone it seems. But basically $200 free at Best Buy none the less. Thanks good sir! :)
You're welcome

They have always let me use it at time of purchase
Do you say something special to them to have them use it on the same purchase? Bc that would be an unbelievable deal....
You're clearly the iPhone deal whisperer haha :)

Wait wait wait wait. Can I please summarize.
I go to Best Buy. Give them my iPhone 5S and get $200. I then buy a new Next Line 6S+ and get $650 towards a new phone, AND get a $200 Best Buy gift card? That can't be true..why is this not being publicized..isn't this an unbelievable deal????

That sounds right to me according to what they have printed. So you could pay 400 down with trade and gift card on the new 6s+, which would get your next payment below 15 dollars a month on the 6s+ easily, and get a new iPhone 6s for free. You only get the 200 gift card if you add a line to receive the free phone. Merry Christmas.

Just went to Best Buys. The $200 gift card can't be applied toward the down payment of the phone to lower payment for Next Plan. It can only be used to pay the taxes. Are others getting the same respond from Best Buy. I was hoping to lower my Next payments.

Yup, same happened to me. Honestly I took the deal. Got $200 for trading in my iPhone 5s and another $200 for the new next phone as well as basically two new 6S+ for the price of one. I'll save the ~$300 (spent some of it on the taxes as you mentioned) in gift cards for my next phone/device in the future.
