Is this real? Did I really see there's a 25$ charge to replace your existing iPhone with this carrier? What sort of racket is being run here by this worthless excuse of a company?!?

Its a bs made up fee by greedy carriers.
They charge you for doing nothing.
You receive the phone yourself and plug it to iTunes to activate it.
 
Your mileage may vary with this. I remember a thread during the last launch and the odds of the CS rep doing this seemed to be less than a 50% success rate.

The last couple of times I upgraded through AT&T, the service reps volunteered to waive the fee before I even had a chance to ask. I guess it really is a YMMV situation.
