ATT upgrade through Apple store possible

So ATT has a backlog obviously.

Yes I order a few hours after the X went live for pre-order.

I see ATT 256 space gray iPhones everyday popping up at my local Apple stores.

Can I just pick up the phone there and cancel my pre-order?

I ask as Apple shows a monthly payment on 56.16 and ATT preorder has me at my payment of 38.34 through the NEXT plan.

I appreciate any advice from those who have done this if it is possible.

Yes you can get the AT&T Next plan via the Apple Store. If you have a Next Upgrade pending on your account, you will need to cancel the AT&T order and make sure that AT&T resets your eligibility for the Next program. It might be faster to call AT&T to process the cancel and reset of your Next eligibility. This will allow you to purchase from Apple.com using AT&T Next program for Apple in-store pickup.

Note: A quick check indicates the price difference is the Apple IUP (12 Month Upgrade in Nov. 2018) plan includes AppleCare + vs the AT&T Next 30 plan with no AppleCare ($38.34) with an upgrade in Nov. 2019. A better comparison would be the Next 12 Plan which is ($47.88) with no AppleCare +.

Make sure you are comparing and purchasing the correct Plan! The AT&T Next
